Anniversary of IPR de San Antonio de los Baños

MY BIRTHDAY

PSALM 90:1-12

Teach us to number our days so we can have a wise heart. (CEB)

Psalm 90:12

Every time we celebrate another year of life, we should stop and reflect for a few moments on how we have used the time God has permitted us to live.  Some people feel uncomfortable each time they reach their birthday, even hiding their age due to the fear of getting old. 

The psalmist in his prayer asks the Lord to show him how to count, not his years, but his days. 

If we meditate on the words of the psalmist, it is logical that we do an inventory of our lives.  What have we done? What have we not done?  What still needs to be done?

If there is anything that has caused us worry or discouragement, let us ask the Lord to renew our strength and to give us the wisdom to be able to discern God’s will for us.  Let’s rid ourselves of the bitter memories that many times hinder our spiritual growth. 

Let’s take advantage of the days we have on the earth, living a life with meaning, filled with the power of God to serve and love.  This will enable us to count our days with immense joy and gratitude to God in our hearts, no matter the crises, illnesses, or frustrations. If we cultivate the wisdom of God in our lives, our existence will be worthwhile.

Prayer:  God and Lord, we give you thanks for life.  Forgive our shortcomings, for at times we don’t do what we should.  Help us to hear your voice, and use us as instruments in your hands.  Amen.

MI CUMPLEAÑOS

SALMO 90:1-12

Enséñanos de tal modo a contar nuestros días

que traigamos al corazón sabiduría

Salmo 90:12

Cada vez que celebramos un año más de vida debemos detenernos para reflexionar por unos momentos cómo hemos utilizado ese tiempo que Dios nos ha permitido vivir. Algunas personas se sienten inconformes, cada vez que se acercan a su cumpleaños, y hasta ocultan su edad por el miedo a envejecer.

El salmista en su plegaria pide al Señor que le enseñe a contar; no sus años, sino sus días.

Si meditamos en las palabras del salmista, lógico es que hagamos un inventario de nuestra vida. ¿Qué hemos hecho? ¿Qué no hemos hecho? ¿Qué nos falta por hacer?

Si hay algo que nos ha causado angustia o desaliento, pidámosle al Señor que redoble nuestras fuerzas y nos dé sabiduría para poder discernir cuál es su voluntad para nosotros.

Desechemos los recuerdos amargos que muchas veces entorpecen nuestro crecimiento espiritual.

Aprovechemos nuestros días en la tierra, viviendo una vida con sentido, llena del poder de Dios para servir y amar. Esto nos permitirá contar nuestros días con gozo inmenso y gratitud a Dios en el corazón, a pesar de crisis, enfermedades, frustraciones, si cultivamos la sabiduría del Dios de la vida, nuestra existencia habrá valido la pena.

Oración: Dios y Señor, te damos  gracias por la vida. Perdona nuestra insuficiencia, pues a veces no hacemos lo que debemos hacer. Ayúdanos para que podamos oír tu voz, y úsanos como instrumentos en tus manos. Amén.
