COMMISSIONED

Acts 13:1-5

So, after they had fasted and prayed,

they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

Acts 13:3 

The church of Antioch performed one of the greatest feats for the dissemination of the Gospel. It sent two of its best prepared leaders. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the church commissioned Barnabas and Saul, giving them the order and authority so that they would dedicate themselves to the mission. The mission was to bring the Gospel to the entire world.

The Lord had already prepared Barnabas and Saul for the great work of their missionary travels. Their background and experience would contribute to the success of an excellent labor in the proclamation and dissemination of the Gospel.

The Lord prepares each of us for the multiple tasks in his work. Just as the Lord guided the church in Antioch, today he directs us to decide our participation in his mission of love and salvation. The mission uses everything we are, even our cultural and emotional backgrounds. Christ’s mission is being completed everywhere we may be.

The Lord commissions us and gives us the power to bring the good news of salvation, even unto the ends of the world.

Prayer:  Gracious God, we ask that you enable us to complete the mission you have entrusted to us. Let us follow the example of our Lord, Jesus Christ, your son. In his name we pray. Amen.

La iglesia de Antioquia dio uno de los pasos más grandes para la extensión del evangelio. Envió a sus dos líderes mejor preparados. Al ser guiada por el Espíritu Santo, la iglesia comisionó a Bernabé y a Saulo. Les dio orden y facultad para que se dedicaran a la misión. La misión era llevar el evangelio al mundo entero.

El Señor ya había preparado a Bernabé y a Saulo para la gran labor de sus viajes misioneros. El trasfondo y experiencia de ellos contribuiría al logro de una labor excelente en la proclamación y extensión del evangelio.

El Señor nos prepara a cada uno para las tareas múltiples en su obra. Al igual que el Señor guió a la iglesia de Antioquia, hoy nos dirige a decidir nuestra participación en su misión de amor y de salvación. La misión usa todo lo que somos, aun nuestro trasfondo cultural y emocional. La misión de Cristo se lleva a cabo en todas partes donde estemos.

El Señor nos comisiona y nos da el poder para llevar las buenas nuevas de salvación hasta el fin del mundo.

Oración: Dios bueno, te pedimos que nos capacites para cumplir con la misión que nos has encomendado. Permite que podamos seguir el ejemplo de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu hijo. Por su nombre oramos. Amén.
