YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT PRAYING

LUKE 11:1-13

He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him,

“Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”  He said to them,

“When you pray, say:  Father, hallowed be your name…”

Can you live without praying?  It depends on how we want to live.  My dog sleeps, eats, runs and plays without praying.  We can live without praying as well—we can eat, work and study.  We can live the life of an animal, of a being created like other beings in nature, all without necessarily praying.  But, can we live the new life Jesus gave us without contact with Him and with the Father Jesus showed us? 

The disciples of Jesus understand that they need to learn to talk with God.  They feel that God speaks in different ways in our lives.  As God’s sons and daughters, we cannot remain indifferent to God’s voice.  As children who learn the language that surrounds them, the Christian needs to learn to speak with the Father. 

For this purpose, Jesus gave us the prayer that we know as the Lord’s Prayer.  This prayer serves as a model for us.  Jesus did not give us this prayer only for us to repeat it, but also for us to pray in this pattern, speaking with God as a Father, placing ourselves in his Kingdom, seeking his will, his forgiveness and asking that God give us all that God considers necessary to live this life every day.

Today’s invitation is to not remain silent.  We must use the tool that Jesus gave us to be in contact with Him.

Prayer:  Teach us, Lord, to pray the way you taught your disciples.  Amen.

NO SE PUEDE VIVIR SIN ORAR

LUCAS 11:1-13

Una vez Jesús estaba orando en un lugar; cuando terminó, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: Señor, enséñanos a orar, lo mismo que Juan enseñó a sus discípulos. Jesús les dijo: Cuando oren, digan:

Padre, santificado sea tu nombre…

Lucas 11:1-2

¿Se puede vivir sin orar? Depende de cómo queramos vivir. Mi perro duerme, come, corre y juega sin orar. Así también podemos vivir nosotros sin orar; podemos comer, trabajar, estudiar. Podemos vivir la vida de una criatura animada, de un ser creado como otros seres de la naturaleza, todo sin necesariamente orar. Pero ¿podemos vivir la vida nueva que nos dio Jesús sin tener contacto con Él y con el Padre que Jesús nos mostró?

Los discípulos de Jesús entienden que necesitan aprender a hablar con Dios. Ellos sienten que Dios habla de diferentes maneras en la vida. Como sus hijos e hijas, no podemos quedar indiferentes a su hablar. Como niños que aprenden a hablar el idioma de su entorno, así el cristiano necesita aprender a hablar con el Padre. Por eso Jesús nos da la oración que conocemos como el Padre Nuestro. Esta oración nos sirve como modelo. En realidad, Jesús no la dio para que solo la repitamos, sino para que oremos de esa manera, hablando con Dios como un Padre, ubicándonos en su Reino, buscando su voluntad, su perdón, y también pidiendo que Dios nos dé lo que Él considere que es necesario para vivir esta vida cada día.

La invitación de hoy es a no quedarnos mudos. Usemos la herramienta que Jesús nos dio para estar en contacto con Él.

Oración: Enséñanos Señor, a orar como les enseñaste a tus discípulos. Amén
