FROM WHOM COME OUR GIFTS AND VIRTUES?

1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-11

To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

1 Corinthians 12:7 (NRSV)

We all have one talent or another: singing, dancing, sewing, acting, sports, etc. They ought to be put to good use in some manner.

Christians call these gifts that are the forms in which the presence of the Spirit makes itself known in each person.  But today we find many people who believe that the gifts are their own merits to be used at their own pleasure for personal betterment – including economically.

Today it is difficult for many members of our communities to use their gifts for the Church. Every time we need to collaborate on something, no one has the time.  Those who act in this manner see the Church as a place to receive benefits and not as a place to share their gifts.

To share and give assistance is not a question of time but of wanting to do it. God blesses us with gifts that are to be used for others. Your community needs you. You have many gifts to give, and God has blessed you with the needed tools.

Prayer: Lord, help me to dedicate my gifts to you and to the work in your Church; in Jesus’ name. Amen.

¿DE QUIÉN SON NUESTROS DONES Y VIRTUDES?

Dios da a cada uno alguna prueba de la presencia

del Espíritu, para provecho de todos

1 Corintios 12:7

Todos tenemos algún talento para algo: cantar, bailar, coser, actuar, deportes, etc. Estos deben ser aprovechados de alguna manera.

Para los cristianos, eso se llama dones, que es una forma en la que la presencia del Espíritu se manifiesta en cada persona. Pero hoy nos encontramos con muchos que creen que los dones son méritos propios y que pueden utilizarlo a su gusto para su mejoramiento personal, incluso económico.

Hoy es difícil que muchos de los miembros de nuestras comunidades utilicen sus dones para la iglesia. Cada vez que se necesita colaboración para algo, nadie tiene tiempo. Quiénes así actúan ven la Iglesia como un espacio para recibir beneficios y no un lugar para compartir los dones.

Compartir y brindar no es una cuestión de tiempo, sino de querer hacerlo. Dios nos bendice con dones que son para utilizarlos en función de los demás.

Tu comunidad te necesita. Tienes muchos dones para dar y Dios te ha bendecido con las herramientas necesarias.

Oración: Ayúdame Señor, a dedicar mis dones a ti y al trabajo en tu Iglesia. Por Jesús, amén.
