“KEEPING THINGS JUST IN CASE”

LUKE 12:13-21

So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves

but are not rich toward God.

Luke 12:21 NRSV

There are people who have the habit of collecting objects and things, thinking that one day they will need them.  Others accumulate money they never spend, thinking that in the future they may end up short.  Keeping it just in case. 

The same thing happens with some feelings that we internalize.  We keep hate, anger, resentment…in the closets of our lives.  This is not healthy and goes against personal growth and the growth of our Christian faith. 

Our nature as human beings pushes us toward accumulating things which many times enslave us.  Painfully, we know situations of people who have a lot of money, but do not take time to enjoy even a small part of their belongings. Another daily reality that makes us uncomfortable is when people buy things compulsively, thinking that the product or article could disappear suddenly from the stores.  Maybe to avoid all of this, God warns us about the need to not accumulate treasures for ourselves, and thus we are free from stressful situations and so many headaches!

Prayer:  Free us, Lord, from all that ties us to material possessions and keeps us from recognizing what is truly important.  Give us victory over our attachments.  Amen.

“GUARDAR POR LAS DUDAS”

LUCAS 12:13 –21

Jesús dijo: Así es el que se hace para sí tesoro,

y no es rico para con Dios.

Lucas 12:21

Hay gente que tiene el hábito de juntar objetos y cosas, creyendo que algún día los va a necesitar. Hay quienes juntan dinero que no gastan nunca, pensando que el futuro les podrá hacer falta. Guardar por las dudas.

Ocurre lo mismo con algunos sentimientos que tenemos internalizados. Guardamos odio, enojo, resentimiento… en el armario de nuestra vida. Esto no es sano y va en contra del crecimiento personal y de la fe cristiana.

La naturaleza del ser humano se dirige hacia la acumulación de cosas de las cuales muchas veces se hace esclavo. Con dolor conocemos de situaciones de personas que tienen mucho dinero, pero no logran tomarse un tiempo para disfrutar de al menos una parte pequeña de sus bienes. Otra realidad cotidiana que nos incomoda es aquella en la que las personas compran compulsivamente pensando que en algún momento puede desaparecer este producto o artículo de las tiendas. Quizás para evitar todo esto, Dios nos advierte sobre la necesidad de no acumular tesoros para nosotros mismos; así nos liberamos de situaciones de estrés y de tantos dolores de cabeza.

Oración: Libéranos Señor, de todo esto que nos ata materialmente y no nos permite reconocer lo verdaderamente importante. Permite que podamos vencer nuestros apegos. Amén.
