THE WAY HE WALKED
1 JOHN 2: 1-6
The one who claims to remain in him ought to live in
the same way as he lived.
1 John 2:6 (CEB)
We are aware
that God has called us to follow Jesus, but how do we apply this? Many times, we wander from his path and we
want to travel our own paths. On other
occasions, we can be overcome by tiredness, apathy or the lack of sensitivity
toward situations around us.
Of course, in
those times that the Master lived, the socio-political, economic reality, the
family situations were very different, but the values that he taught us are
eternal and necessary for all times.
What did Jesus
teach us? Life or death, inclusion or
exclusion, mercy or insensitivity, peace or violence, unity or division?
Today, the world
is troubled by many problems: wars,
natural disasters, humanitarian crises, illnesses, the arrogance of the rulers
of today. A similarly bleak view takes
place in our lives: frustrations, family or church divisions, the abuse of
power of those who believe themselves gods.
Nevertheless, Christ is the reason for our hope and those who say we
remain in Him, should walk the way he walked.
Through his love, we can!
Prayer: Our Jesus, forgive us for all the times
we have wandered from your paths, due to our own fears and anxieties. Help us to trust in you, in order to travel
your paths in hope and with responsibility for your good news that always offers
new life, Amen.

COMO ÉL ANDUVO

JUAN 2: 1-6
El
que dice que permanece en él debe andar como él anduvo.
1 Juan 2:6
Estamos conscientes del llamado que Dios nos
ha hecho para seguir a Jesús, pero ¿eso se concreta en una práctica
consecuente? Muchas veces nos alejamos de su camino y queremos transitar
nuestras propias veredas. En otras ocasiones nos vence el cansancio, la apatía,
la falta de sensibilidad hacia las situaciones que acontecen a nuestro
alrededor.
Por supuesto que en los tiempos que vivió el
Maestro la realidad sociopolítica, económica, las situaciones familiares distan
mucho de las nuestras, pero los valores que él nos enseñó son eternos y
necesarios para todos los tiempos.
¿Qué nos enseñó Jesús: vida o muerte,
inclusión o exclusión, misericordia o insensibilidad, paz o violencia, unidad o
división?
En estos momentos son muchos los problemas que
aquejan al mundo: guerras, desastres naturales, crisis humanitarias,
enfermedades, la prepotencia de los imperios de hoy. Un panorama no más
alentador se presenta en nuestras vidas: frustraciones, divisiones en la
familia, o en la iglesia, abuso de poder de quienes se creen dioses. Sin
embargo, Cristo es la razón de nuestra esperanza y quienes decimos permanecer
en Él, debemos andar como Él anduvo. Por su amor ¡Podemos!
Oración:
Jesús nuestro, perdónanos las
tantas veces que nos hemos apartado de tus caminos, por nuestros miedos y
angustias. Ayúdanos a confiar en ti, para transitar tus caminos en esperanza y
responsabilidad con tu buena noticia, que siempre ofrece novedad de vida. Amén
