GOD, OUR FAITHFUL FRIEND

PSALM 34: 1-8

. . . happy are those who take refuge in him.

Psalm 34:8 (NRSV)

            In José Martí’s book The Golden Age, which we have all read, this simple, beautiful verse exalts the value of friendship:

Tiene el leopardo un abrigo,

The leopard has a coat

en su monte seco y pardo.

on its dry and brown mouuntain

Yo tengo más que el leopardo,

I have more than the leopard

porque tengo un buen amigo.

because I have a good friend.

            In the difficult times which we often confront in our daily lives, it is so important to have a friend with whom we can share our pains and ask for help, as long as we are sure of their sincere and unconditional friendship. The same is true when we feel disoriented and lost and take refuge in our God of Glory.

            When our faith is firm, God always reaches out his hand and tells us, “Don’t be afraid; I am here to save you.” God is our friend, our Savior. Let’s trust completely in God’s love and faithfulness.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, may we always walk holding your hand, receiving your consolation and blessings. May our faith always rest in you and your friendship. Amen.

DIOS, NUESTRO AMIGO FIEL

SALMO 34: 1-8

…Dichoso el hombre que confía en él

Salmo 34:8

En el libro “La Edad de Oro” de José Martí, que todos hemos leído, este hermoso verso sencillo que resalta el valor de la amistad:

Tiene el leopardo un abrigo,

en su monte seco y pardo.

Yo tengo más que el leopardo,

porque tengo un buen amigo.

Es muy importante en los momentos difíciles que a veces enfrentamos en nuestras vidas, tener un amigo a quien contarle nuestras penas y pedirle ayuda; siempre que estemos seguros de su amistad sincera e incondicional.

Así hacemos cuando nos sentimos desorientados y perdidos, y nos refugiamos en nuestro Dios de Gloria.

Cuando es firme nuestra fe, Él siempre nos extiende su mano y nos dice: No temas, yo estoy aquí para salvarte. Él es nuestro amigo, nuestro Salvador. Confiemos plenamente en su amor y su fidelidad.

Oración: Señor Jesús, que podamos caminar sujetos de tu mano siempre, recibiendo tu consuelo y tus bendiciones. Qué nuestra confianza esté siempre puesta en ti y en tu amistad. Amén.
