AN UNGRATEFUL HEART

2 Timothy 3:1-7

But mark this: there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves […]ungrateful…(NIV)

2 Timothy. 3:1-2

If at some time you find yourself among ungrateful people, you know how much they can discourage you from doing good. Of course, there are many occasions in which we ourselves  show ingratitude to others. Sadly, we do it so naturally that at times we don’t even realize that we’ve been ungrateful to people around us.

So, it’s not strange that the Apostle Paul includes ingratitude in his list of common sins characteristic of “the last days,” the era that began with the first coming of Christ.

To be ungrateful is something serious in our social interactions, since it harms others. But to be ungrateful can also be mortal in our spiritual life, because it hurts God as well as us. To be ungrateful to Jesus means drawing away from him. That’s why the Bible teaches us to carefully examine our hearts.

The best biblical antidote for an ungrateful heart is this: “Fortify yourself by the grace that we have in Christ Jesus. Only by looking at the cross of Christ can we attain the thankfulness that pleases God.”

Prayer: Lord, fill our hearts with thankfulness for salvation in Christ. Teach us to love others, showing our gratitude to them as well. Amen.

UN CORAZON INGRATO.

2da Timoteo 3:1-7
