HE IS ALIVE!
LUKE 24:1-12
“And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless
and so is your faith.”
1 Corinthians 15:14
The women went to Jesus’ tomb to prepare the
body and instead found something quite unexpected. They were very much afraid,
but after listening to those men in resplendent white clothing, they left
convinced that something extraordinary had taken place. When the disciples
arrived at the empty tomb, they “did not
believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.” A
possible version of the story today would say that “the news sounded like wives’ tales to them”. Imagine what would
have become the explanation for Jesus’ displacement, if instead of having been
witnessed by women, his spokespersons, the Good News of the Resurrection had
instead remained a mere “wives’ tale”!
I like the way that the story proposes the
unexpected as that which prepares us for understanding the mystery of the empty
tomb. Do you continue to tremble before the unexpected, before that which runs contrary
to your logical reasoning, in spite of knowing that faith means being confident
of what cannot be seen? Are you still seeking and proclaiming a dead Jesus
instead of the Resurrected One? It is not
a question of “wives’ tales,” but rather of commitment in the proclamation of
this truth: He is alive!
Prayer: Lord, conqueror of death, you who open life’s doors to us each and
every day, allow us to live in the hope of the resurrection. Amen.

¡ÉL ESTÁ VIVO!
LUCAS
24:1-12
“Si Cristo no resucitó, esta buena noticia
que
anunciamos no sirve para nada, y de nada sirve tampoco
que ustedes crean en Cristo.” 1 Corintios 15:14
Las mujeres fueron a la
tumba de Jesús para preparar el cadáver y se encontraron con algo inesperado.
Se asustaron mucho, pero luego de escuchar a aquellos varones de vestiduras
resplandecientes, salieron convencidas de lo extraordinario que había sucedido.
Al contarlo a los discípulos, éstos “no les creyeron, sino que pensaron que
se habían vuelto locas”. Una versión actual de la historia tal vez diría que la novedad les
pareció “chismes de mujeres”. ¡Qué hubiese sido del movimiento de Jesús si
por el hecho de haber sido las mujeres, sus portavoces, la Buena Noticia de la
Resurrección se hubiese quedado en aquello de “puro cuento”! Me gusta como el
relato propone lo inesperado como lo que nos prepara para entender el misterio
de la tumba vacía. ¿Sigues tú temblando ante lo inesperado, ante lo que va
contra tu lógica racional, a pesar de saber que la fe es la confianza en lo que
no se ve? ¿Sigues buscando y proclamando un Jesús muerto y no al Resucitado? No
es cuestión de “chismes de mujeres”, sino de compromiso en la proclamación de esta
verdad: ¡Él está vivo!
Oración: Señor, vencedor de la
muerte, tú que nos abres las puertas de la vida en este día y siempre,
concédenos que vivamos en la esperanza de la resurrección. Amén.
