TRIUMPHANT MEAKNESS

MATTHEW 5:1-12

“Blessed are the meek,
For they will inherit the earth.”
Matthew 5:5

A Chinese philosopher from ancient times gave us a teaching that is as valuable as a treasure. Two objects, water and a knife, were chosen to illustrate his teaching.  The water looks calm and peaceful, and therefore appears to be the softer and more delicate of the two elements.  The knife, on the other hand, appears to be powerful and fierce, and therefore strong and fearsome. Nevertheless, the powerful knife cannot subdue the mild water.  The fierce knife can be swallowed by the soft water and can thus be conquered.

Likewise, a strong person can be prominent, but a meek person endures. Selfish people who live their lives manipulating others may feel satisfied with what they believe to be successful; but meek people, those who are considerate of others, will prevail.  Material power can numb the human conscience, but it is divine spiritual power that guides and directs those who seek eternal truth, to find it.

Prayer: Our God, teach us the value of meekness, so that we may become useful citizens in the world. Amen.

MANSEDUMBRE VICTORIOSA

MATEO 5:1-12

“Bienaventurados los mansos,
porque ellos recibirán la tierra por heredad”
Mateo 5:5
