International Day against Child Slavery
CHRIST, THE WAY
PHILIPPIANS 3:7-11
“I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and
the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…”
Philippians 3:10
If we were to take the image of a path to illustrate the life of
Jesus, we could say that it was a difficult and beautiful pathway, with stones
that tried to detain his steps, but also with space for celebrating life. It was
a path with time to teach and to share divine wisdom, the wisdom of daily life,
but it was also a path with time for healing; a path that was at times widened
in order to welcome outcasts and on other occasions it became narrower to the
point where there was no exit.
We have all passed through moments of crisis, through paths that
have become narrower and upon advancing forward, the option to turn back
becomes more difficult. It seems that
each time there are fewer options and that one has reached a dead-end. But remember
that Jesus found himself at an apparent dead-end: the cross. It is here that he shows us his eternal love.
This is where our lives take a new path and where everything begins anew.
Prayer: God, help us
to seek you and to acknowledge you in our moments of crisis on the pathway of
faith. We pray today for the children who are enslaved; protect them in the
name of him who gave his life that we may be born again. Amen.

CRISTO, EL CAMINO
FILIPENSES 3:7-11

Si tomáramos la imagen del camino
para ilustrar la vida de Jesús, pudiéramos decir que fue un camino difícil y
hermoso, con piedras que intentaron detener el paso, pero también con espacio
para celebrar la vida. Fue un camino con tiempo para enseñar y compartir la
sabiduría divina, la sabiduría de la vida cotidiana, pero fue también un camino
con tiempo para sanar; un camino que por momentos se ensanchaba para acoger a
los marginados y en otras ocasiones se hacía cada vez más pequeño hasta llegar
a un punto donde al parecer no había salida.
Todos hemos pasado por momentos de
crisis, caminos que se hacen cada vez más estrechos y al avanzar, la opción de
regresar se hace más difícil. Parece que cada vez quedaran menos opciones y que
has llegado a un punto sin salida. Pero recuerda que Jesús se encontró
aparentemente en un punto sin salida: la cruz. Es aquí donde nos muestra su
amor eterno. Es aquí donde nuestras vidas toman un nuevo camino y donde todo
vuelve a comenzar.
Oración: Dios, ayúdanos a buscarte
y reconocerte en nuestros momentos de crisis en el camino de la fe. Hoy te
pedimos por los niños esclavizados, protégelos en el nombre de aquel que dio su
vida para que nosotros podamos nacer de nuevo. Amén.
