EACH PERSON SHOULD EXAMINE HIMSELF OR HERSELF

PSALM 51

“A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.”

1 Corinthians 11:28

In our worship services, we always have a moment for acknowledging our errors before God.  It is a way of becoming consciously aware of the opportunity that God gives us to become born again, to examine our conduct and to renew ourselves. But we need to participate in this conversion on a daily basis, this possibility of feeling reconciled with God, in a deep and not superficial manner.

Today’s text calls us to examine our conduct in order to be especially prepared at the instant that we are going to participate in communion. There, before partaking of the bread and the wine, let us examine our conscience. Let us be inflexible with our mind, undressing it so that the most subtle and poison-filled of intentions cannot remain veiled. Let us open all our hearts, uncover our feelings and our ideas and tell the Lord where our wounds lie. Then the Lord will clean us and will heal us and we will be in true communion with Him.

Prayer: Have mercy on me, God, in accordance with your mercy; because I acknowledge all my rebellions and my sin is always before me. Amen.

“Por tanto pruébese cada uno a sí mismo

y coma así del pan y beba de la copa”

1 Corintios 11:28

En nuestros Cultos de Adoración, siempre tenemos un momento para reconocer ante Dios nuestros errores. Es una manera de concientizar la oportunidad  que Dios  nos brinda de nacer de nuevo, de examinar nuestra conducta y renovarnos. Pero es necesario participar de esta conversión cotidiana, de esta posibilidad de sentirnos reconciliados con Dios, de una manera profunda y no superficial.

El texto de hoy es un llamado a examinar nuestra conducta para estar aptos especialmente en el instante en que vamos a participar de la Comunión. Allí, delante del pan y el vino, antes de tomarlos, hagamos examen de conciencia. Seamos inflexibles con nuestra mente y desnudémosla para que la más sutil de las intenciones cargada de veneno no se quede arrinconada. Abramos las entrañas todas, descubramos nuestros sentimientos y nuestras ideas, y digámosle al Señor dónde están  nuestras llagas. El Señor pues, nos limpiará, nos sanará y estaremos en verdadera comunión con Él.

Oración: Ten piedad de mí, Dios, conforme a tu misericordia; porque yo reconozco mis rebeliones y mi pecado está siempre delante de mí. Amén.
