ETERNAL INHERITANCE
COLOSSIANS 1:1-15
“For this reason Christ is the mediator of
a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now
that he has died as ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first
covenant.”
Hebrews 9:15
A few days ago I was reading the following anecdote: When a rich landowner died, two men commented: “The deceased’s sons are so selfish, so greedy and so unpleasant, that they are completely unworthy of inheriting their father’s riches.” The other man replied, “Worthiness doesn’t count in this case. An inheritance is a gift which is conferred, not a prize which is won.”
The inheritance that we receive from our
Lord Jesus Christ is like this. It is
something that is conceded to us through his grace. We may be unworthy and as such we cannot
offer anything to make ourselves worthy of the blessings of our God. He permits us to be inheritors of his Kingdom
by first granting us salvation in Christ Jesus.
We are heirs to an eternal treasure that we can always enjoy. Let us therefore be responsible with that
inheritance.
Prayer: Greatly beloved Lord, we give you thanks because
you do not look at our iniquities, loving us and conceding the gift of
salvation to us, through which we are heirs to your eternal kingdom.
HERENCIA ETERNA
COLOSENSES 1:1-15
“Por eso es mediador de
una nueva Alianza; para que,
interviniendo su muerte
para remisión de las transgresiones
de la primera Alianza,
los que han sido llamados
reciban la herencia
eterna prometida.”
Hebreos 9:15
Hace
