SERVING WITH HUMILITY

 ROMANS   12:3-10

“… but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you…”                    

 Romans  12:3

Many times we allow ourselves to be carried away by our passion for work and for success, without thinking that we are overextending the limits of good sense and respect for the rights of others.  It is good to be successful, but we need to be careful that so much brilliance does not lead to blindness. God commands us to use a measure that is neither so short that it does not reach, nor so long that it leaves others without the space for action.

Our gifts should be used for a single and same purpose:  the unity and growth of the Church of Jesus Christ.  Given the diversity of gifts, we are called to be creative in our actions, to offer space and to always seek harmony.   In this regard, John Calvin emphasized: “…God did not concentrate all the gifts in a single person, but rather gave each person a determinate amount, so that we would need one another and help one another, bringing together all the gifts that each individual has received.” (Calvin Inst. IV).

True harmony is achieved when we share the diversity of gifts and knowledge. Let us be thankful to the God of diversity through our creativity!

Prayer:  Lord, help us to live in harmony, helping and serving one another and growing in the Spirit. Amen.

SIRVIENDO CON HUMILDAD

 ROMANOS   12:3-10

“… tened más bien una sobria estima según la medida

de la fe que otorgó Dios a cada cual…”                    

 Romanos  12:3

Muchas veces nos dejamos llevar por la pasión del trabajo, el éxito; sin pensar que sobrepasamos los límites de la cordura y el respeto a los derechos ajenos. Es bueno ser exitoso; pero, cuidado tanto brillo no produzca ceguera. Dios nos manda a tener una medida que no sea tan corta que no alcance, ni tan larga que deje a otros sin espacio para la acción. Nuestros dones deben ser ejercitados en función de un mismo propósito: la unidad y crecimiento de la Iglesia de Jesucristo. Dada la diversidad de dones, estamos llamados a ser creativos en nuestro accionar, ofrecer espacios y procurar siempre la armonía. Al respecto Juan Calvino enfatizó: “…Dios no concentró todos los dones en una misma persona, sino que cada una recibió una determinada cantidad, para que unos necesiten a otros y se ayuden recíprocamente, aportando conjuntamente los beneficios que cada uno ha recibido” (Calvino, Inst. IV).

La verdadera armonía se logra cuando compartimos la diversidad de dones y saberes. ¡Agrademos al Dios de la diversidad siendo creativos!

Oración: Señor, permítenos vivir en armonía, ayudándonos, sirviéndonos y creciendo en Espíritu. Amén.
