THE LORD OF THE SABBATH
JOHN 5:1-18
“The day on which this took place
was a Sabbath…”
John 5:9
The
Egyptians had the idea that dead people remained alive through monuments or
through sculptural expressions. The
pyramids of Keoff, Kefren and Mizereno, which are part of the “Marvels of the
Ancient World,” emerged as a result of this tradition. Today very little is
known about whether they even existed or exist.
We have
the opportunity to build pyramids, not out of stone but rather out of
ideas: pyramids for the Eternal King Jesus
Christ rather than for transitory kings. The reality, contrary to the song
lyrics “not to be born and to die,” is to be born and not to die.
“They are
not dead, those who in sweet calm
Enjoy the peace of the cold tomb.
Dead are those whose souls are dead and who
Remain alive.”
Eternal
life is not a matter of “the beyond” but rather a fact of the “here and now.”
Prayer: Lord, grant that our testimony and our lives
may be worthy of gaining eternal life. Amen.
EL SEÑOR DEL SÁBADO
JUAN 5:1-18

Los egipcios tenían la
idea que los muertos se mantenían vivos mediante monumentos o expresiones
escultóricas.
Siguiendo la tradición surgieron las pirámides de
Keoff, Kefren y Mizereno, las cuales son hoy parte de las “Maravillas del Mundo
Antiguo”. Estas obras se hicieron con la idea de inmortalizar a sus héroes
respetados y queridos. Hoy se conoce poco y para no pocos ni existieron, ni
existen.
Nosotros tenemos la oportunidad de levantar
pirámides, no de piedras sino de ideas. Pirámides no para reyes transitorios, sino
para el Rey Eterno: Jesucristo.
La realidad, contrario a lo que dice la canción:
“no es nacer y morir”; la realidad es nacer y no morir.
“No son muertos los que en dulce calma
la paz disfrutan de la tumba fría.
Muertos son los que tienen muerta el alma,
y viven todavía”.
La vida eterna no es tema del “más allá” sino un
quehacer del “más acá”.
Oración: Señor, permite que nuestro testimonio y nuestra vida, sean merecedores
de alcanzar la vida eterna. Amén.
