FIGHT AGAINST TEMPTATION

Luke 4:1-13

“And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.”

Matthew 6:13

Temptation is always a push towards evil, an invitation to distance ourselves from God’s path. Those who fall into temptation are those who are weak in their relationship with God, as well as those who exchange God for what evil offers.

Temptation and sin are not the same.  Sin is when we fall into temptation.  In the desert, Israel fell into temptation; the people allowed themselves to be led by the devil and forgot that it was God who had delivered them from slavery.

Jesus was tempted also but he did not sin.

Let us not be naive; we all have temptations that make their appearance at one time or another in a thousand and one ways offered by human situations.

Let us not think that we are going to be free of temptations.  Holiness and the path toward God does not consist of not being tempted, but rather in being able to overcome temptation.

Prayer: My God, do not allow me to fall into temptation; give me the strength to live without being separated from you. Amen.

LUCHA CONTRA LA TENTACIÓN

Lucas 4:1-13

“No nos metas en tentación, sino líbranos del mal”

Mateo 6:13

La tentación es siempre un empuje hacia el mal, una invitación a apartarnos del camino de Dios. Cae en la tentación el que es débil en su relación con Dios. Cae en tentación quien cambia a Dios por lo que el mal le ofrece.

Tentación y pecado no es lo mismo. El pecado es cuando caemos en la tentación. En el desierto, Israel cedió a la tentación; se dejó llevar por el demonio y se olvidó de Dios que les había liberado de la esclavitud.

Jesús también fue tentado pero no pecó.

No seamos ingenuos, todos tenemos tentaciones que hacen su aparición una y otra vez en las mil y una caras que nos ofrecen las situaciones humanas.

No pensemos que vamos a poder estar libres de tentaciones. La santidad y el camino hacia Dios no consiste en no ser tentado, sino en poder superar las tentaciones.

Oración: Dios mío, no me dejes caer en tentación, dame fortaleza para no vivir alejado de ti. Amén.
