STONES OF INCOMPREHENSION

JOHN  8:1-11

 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “if any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

John 8:7

Let us examine ourselves in the deepest part of our beings to see how many times we have hurt someone by throwing stones of incomprehension at them.  And let us remember that when we hurt other people we are hurting Jesus himself. Let us recall that this is the same Jesus who taught us the meaning of love, by dying humiliated on a cross. Jesus is that faithful friend in whom we can trust because he was resurrected, because he gave us the possibility of reaching the Father through himself.

He lived among us and taught us how to walk in his ways. Let us not throw away his teachings;  instead, let us be true examples in our words and actions. Let us be truly worthy of calling ourselves followers of Christ. This is a holy commitment before humanity.  

When we are prisoners of selfishness and of incoherent testimony, we tend to throw stones of incomprehension and injustice at others.  We often judge, without putting ourselves in the place of another man or woman.

Therefore, let us thrust the stones from our hands, but let us throw them into the void, where they can do no one any harm.  They are a heavy burden to carry around with us every day. 

Prayer: Jesus, you who forgive our sins, we ask you to help us to not throw stones of incomprehension at other people.  Amen.

PIEDRAS DE INCOMPPRENSIÓN

JUAN  8:1-11

 Luego, como seguían preguntándole, se enderezó y les dijo: Aquel de ustedes que no tenga pecado,

que le tire la primera piedra

Juan 8:7

Examinemos en lo más profundo de nuestro ser cuántas veces hemos herido a alguien arrojándoles piedras de incomprensión y recordemos que al herir a otras personas estamos hiriendo al propio Jesús. Tengamos presente que es el mismo Jesús quien nos enseñó el significado del amor, muriendo humillado en una cruz. Jesús es ese amigo fiel en el que podemos confiar porque resucitó, porque él nos dio la posibilidad de llegar al Padre por medio de él. 

Él vivió entre nosotros y nos enseñó a transitar sus caminos. No desechemos sus enseñanzas, sino que seamos un verdadero ejemplo en nuestras palabras y acciones. Seamos realmente dignos de llamarnos seguidores de Cristo. Esto es un compromiso sagrado ante la humanidad.

Cuando somos presa del egoísmo y el testimonio incoherente, tendemos a lanzar piedras de incomprensión e injusticia a los demás. Solemos juzgar, sin ponernos en el lugar del otro o de la otra.

Así pues, arrojemos las piedras que tenemos en nuestras manos, pero arrojémoslas al vacío, donde no haya nadie a quien dañar, son una carga muy pesada para llevarlas en nuestro diario andar.

Oración: Jesús, tú que perdonas nuestros pecados, te pedimos que nos ayudes a no arrojarles piedras de incomprensión a otras personas. Amén.
