PEACE TO YOU

JOHN  20:19-29

Jesus came and stood among them and said,

“Peace be with you!”

John 20:19

Closed doors, fear, uncertainty, apparition, doubts… How many things all at once! The crucifixion and Jesus’s death put an end to all hope of those who followed him. Where now was the Messiah, the King, the Master? Where was he who would establish an eternal kingdom? Where was the Son of God?

The fearful disciples hid themselves from the Jewish authorities. The disappearance had taken hold of them. Everything in which they’d believed and put their hope seemed to have come to an end.

At some time, many of us have felt that everything had come to its end. In such moments, we become frustrated because something into which we had put all our expectations is now gone. What a surprise, when in the middle of that scene of fear and despair the resurrected Jesus appeared and said to them, “Peace be with you!”

It’s in the hardest moments when true friends are most valued. Despite everything that happened, Jesus had not abandoned them. He received them with love, he gave them peace as a true friend. If you are experiencing difficulties and pain, allow Jesus to penetrate your enclosed world and offer you his peace, which can enable you to recover your faith and hope.

Prayer: God, my friend, may your peace always be among us. Amen

PAZ A USTEDES

JUAN  20:19-29

Jesús entró y, poniéndose en medio de los discípulos,

los saludó diciendo:   -¡Paz a ustedes!

Puertas cerradas, miedo, incertidumbre, aparición, dudas… ¡Cuántas cosas en tan poco tiempo!

La crucifixión y muerte de Jesús había puesto fin a toda esperanza de quienes lo seguían. ¿Dónde estaba ahora el Mesías, el Rey, el Maestro? ¿Dónde estaba aquel que instauraría un reino eterno? ¿Dónde estaba el Hijo de Dios?

Los discípulos temerosos se escondieron de las autoridades judías. La desesperanza se había apoderado de ellos. Todo en lo que habían creído y puesto sus expectativas parecía haber llegado a su fin. 

Muchos de nosotros hemos sentido alguna vez que todo ha llegado a su fin. En momentos así nos vemos frustrados ante algo en lo que pusimos todas nuestras esperanzas.

¡Qué sorpresa cuando en medio de aquel ambiente de temor y desesperanza apareció el resucitado y les dijo: “Paz a ustedes”!

Es en los momentos difíciles cuando se valoran los verdaderos amigos.  A  pesar de todo lo acontecido  Jesús no los abandonó. Los recibió con amor, les dio la paz, como un amigo fiel.

Si usted atraviesa dificultades y penas, deje que Jesús penetre en su mundo cerrado y le brinde su paz, aquella que puede hacerle recobrar la fe y la esperanza.

Oración: Dios amigo, que tu paz esté siempre en medio nuestro. Amén.
