BUT THE GREATEST IS LOVE

1 CORINTHIANS 13

…but the greatest of these is love

1 Corinthians13:13

Love is a “character” who accompanies us in many of our deeds.  For example, we often hear it said: “This meal is not so great, but it was made with love.”  Or:  “This gift is nothing out of this world, but it was given out of great love.” We then realize that love is almost always with us.  If it could only be with us always!  But I think it depends on each one of us, whether we make room for it or not.

Being accompanied by love allows us to be better human beings.  Today’s written text tells us something important:  Love your neighbor as yourself.  Thus, we have to love ourselves in order to know how to love others, how to treat them, how to help them.  It is important that we treat others as we ourselves wish to be treated. It is not a matter of showing love only in good times.  It is important to love and to be with others when they need us.  Love is a perfect link also in times of pain and worry.  Let us help others to confront any difficulty, with the greatest of all the values of the kingdom: love.

Prayer: Lord, give us a heart full of love in order to give of ourselves to others. Amen.

PERO EL MAYOR ES EL AMOR

...pero el mayor de ellos es el amor

1 Corintios 13:13

El amor es un “personaje” que nos acompaña en muchas de nuestras tareas. Por ejemplo, quién de nosotros no ha dicho: “¿Esta comida no es gran cosa, pero está hecha con amor” o: “Este regalo no es algo del otro mundo, pero está compartido con mucho amor”. Entonces nos damos cuenta de que él está casi siempre con nosotros ¡Si pudiera estar siempre! Pero creo que depende de cada uno de nosotros, de si le damos cabida en nuestra vida o no.

Estar acompañados del amor nos permite ser mejores seres humanos. El texto leído en esta mañana nos dice algo importante: Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Por tanto, tenemos que amarnos nosotros para saber amar a otros, para saber cómo tratarlos, cómo ayudarlos. Es importante que así como deseamos ser tratados, tratemos a los demás.

No se trata de demostrar el amor solamente en los buenos momentos. Es importante amar y acompañar a los demás cuando nos necesitan. El amor es un vínculo perfecto también en los momentos de dolor y preocupación. Ayudemos a los demás a enfrentar cualquier dificultad, con el mayor de todos los valores del reino: el amor
