LIKE A MIRROR

2 CORINTHIANS 3:12-18

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face.

Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

1 Corinthians 13:12

All of us have on occasion stopped in front of a showcase not to see what is displayed but to look at ourselves. How often we are surprised to see that the reflected image is not as attractive as we had imagined! It’s not just about looking at our physical image: the way we look, our hairstyle, our makeup, or the outfit we’re wearing. 

We are speaking of the image that is at level deeper than our physical appearance. When we read God’s Word we also see an image that is very different from what we were expecting. God’s Word is like a mirror which helps us to see that we are not living the way God wants us to live.

However, it is possible to come to reflect God’s image. By admitting our mistakes and confessing them to God we can engage in a process of renewal which transforms our lives and places us in God’s service in the world. We were created in order to reflect God’s glory. Let us reflect to the world the true light, the light of God which has overcome the darkness.

Prayer: Help us, Lord, to be aware of your presence and, by faith, to see you as you really are. Help us to reflect your love, to be your image in our daily actions. Amen.

COMO UN ESPEJO

2 CORINTIOS 3:12-18

Ahora vemos por espejo, oscuramente; pero entonces

veremos cara a cara. Ahora conozco en parte,

pero entonces conoceré como fui conocido.

1 Corintios 13:12

Todos en alguna ocasión nos hemos detenido frente a una vitrina no para ver lo que ahí se exhibe, sino para mirarnos. ¡Cuán a menudo nos sorprendemos al ver que la imagen reflejada no es tan atractiva como nos imaginábamos!

No se trata sólo de atender a nuestra imagen física: la manera en que lucimos, el peinado, el maquillaje o el atuendo que usamos. Hablamos de la imagen que está a un nivel más profundo que nuestra apariencia física.

Cuando leemos la Palabra de Dios también vemos una imagen  muy diferente a la que esperábamos. La Palabra de Dios, es como un espejo que nos ayuda a ver que no vivimos de la manera que Dios desea que vivamos.

Es posible sin embargo, llegar a reflejar la imagen de Dios. Al admitir nuestros errores y confesarlos a Dios, podemos comprometernos en un proceso de renovación que transforme nuestra vida y nos ponga al servicio de Dios en el mundo. Fuimos creados para reflejar la gloria de Dios. Reflejemos al mundo la verdadera luz, la luz del Dios que ha vencido a las tinieblas.

Oración: Ayúdanos Señor, a estar consciente de tu presencia, y por fe, verte como eres en realidad. Ayúdanos a reflejar tu amor, a ser imagen tuya en nuestras acciones cotidianas. Amén.
