SPIRITUAL GROWTH

JOHN 1:1-18

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us… (NIV)

John 1:14a

It is impossible to live a Christian life without Christ’s Spirit. There must be a birth before there can be life and growth. All growth takes time. Spiritual growth is the result of our cooperation with the work of the Holy Spirit within us, so that Christ’s way of thinking becomes our way of thinking. We can’t be Christ-like by our own efforts. Unless we give the Spirit of God freedom to work in our lives, He cannot produce Christ’s character within us.

This is not a mechanical process. It is a real and growing relationship with God that satisfies the deepest longings of the human heart.

May we allow the Word to become flesh in our lives, so that the Spirit dwells within us in order to incarnate gestures and actions of tenderness, justice, mercy, and service. May the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ become a reality that the Spirit perfects in us every day.

Prayer: Father, today I surrender my life to Your Spirit so that You can work in me to make me more Christ-like. Give me a clear understanding of your ways as I read the Scriptures and give me the power to follow Christ’s teachings. Amen.

CRECIMIENTO ESPIRITUAL

JUAN 1:1-18

Y aquel Verbo fue hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros…

Juan 1:14a

Es imposible vivir la vida cristiana sin el Espíritu de Cristo. Debe haber un nacimiento antes de que pueda haber vida y crecimiento. Todos los crecimientos necesitan tiempo. El crecimiento espiritual es el resultado de nuestra colaboración con la obra del Espíritu Santo dentro de nosotros y de permitir que la forma de pensar de Cristo se convierta en nuestra forma de pensar. No podemos llegar a ser semejantes a Cristo con nuestros propios esfuerzos. Solo cuando permitimos que el Espíritu de Dios tenga libertad para trabajar en nuestras vidas, Él puede producir el carácter de Cristo en nosotros.

Este no es un proceso mecánico. Es una relación con Dios genuina y creciente, que satisface los anhelos más profundos del corazón humano.

Dejemos que el verbo se haga carne en nuestras vidas, que el espíritu more en nosotros para poder encarnar gestos y acciones de ternura, de justicia, de misericordia y servicio. Dejemos que el amor sacrificial de Jesucristo sea una realidad que el Espíritu perfecciona en nosotros cada día.

Oración: Padre, en este día rindo mi vida a tu Espíritu para que obres en mí a fin de que pueda ser más semejante a Cristo. Dame un claro entendimiento de tus caminos a medida que leo las Escrituras y dame el poder de seguir las enseñanzas de Cristo. Amén.
