THE GIFTS OF THE CHURCH

TITUS 2:1-15

 But you should talk in a way that is consistent with sound teaching.

Throughout history, God has revealed himself as the one who loves those who acknowledge him.  He in turn expresses his love through his gifts.  The church of the first century received spiritual gifts, especially the first gifts of leadership.  These gifts given to the church had the goal of preparing the people of God to be able to continue the work of Christ on the earth.

In this text we can discover how to encourage the older members of the church to use their gifts for the benefit of the younger members.  This is only one way in which God shows the church his language of love through gifts.  

Since those first days of the Christian era, each believer in Christ has been given distinct spiritual gifts that are capabilities to carry out certain tasks in the body of Christ.  These gifts include wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, prophecy, discernment of the Spirit and leadership capability.  The diverse gifts have given the ability to the followers of Christ to carry out his work for over 2000 years.  Let us discover today which gifts God has given us and make ourselves available to use them for the building up of Christ’s church.

Prayer: Thank you God, for the spiritual gifts you have given me, and for the gifts of other people who have influenced my life.  Help me to use my spiritual gifts to benefit your church. Amen.

LOS DONES DE LA IGLESIA

TITO 2:1-15

Pero tú habla lo que está de acuerdo con la sana doctrina

Tito 2:1

A través de la historia, Dios se ha revelado como aquel que ama a aquellos que le reconocen. Él a su vez, expresa su amor por medio de sus dones. La iglesia del primer siglo recibió dones espirituales, especialmente los primeros dones de liderazgo. Esos dones dados a la iglesia tenían el fin de preparar al pueblo de Dios para que pudiera continuar la obra de Cristo en la tierra.

En este texto podemos encontrar cómo se anima a los miembros mayores de la Iglesia a usar los dones para el beneficio de sus miembros más jóvenes. Esta es solo una manera en que Dios muestra a la Iglesia su lenguaje de amor a través de los dones.

Desde aquellos primeros días de la era cristiana, a cada creyente en Cristo se le han dado distintos dones espirituales que son capacidades para llevar a cabo ciertas tareas en el cuerpo de Cristo. Estos dones incluyen sabiduría, conocimiento, fe, sanidad, profecía, discernimiento de espíritu y capacidades de liderazgo. Los diversos dones han dado poder a los seguidores de Cristo para llevar a cabo su obra durante dos mil años. Descubramos hoy cuáles son esos dones que nos ha dado Dios y pongámoslos a disposición de la edificación de su iglesia.

Oración: Gracias Dios por los dones espirituales que me has dado, por los dones de otras personas que han influido en mi vida. Ayúdame a usar mis dones espirituales para beneficio de tu iglesia. Amén.
