A PLACE OF REST

HEBREWS 4:1-16

So you see that a sabbath rest is left open for God’s people.

Joshua brought the Israelites to the promised land after forty years of wandering in the desert.  Nevertheless, the text tells us that the land was not the final resting place for Joshua.

Jesus extends the offer of rest in Matthew 11:28 to all who are tired and carrying burdens of guilt, anger, aggressiveness or anxiety.  Note that Jesus does not tell you to leave your burdens to the side and go with him, but simply to go with him.  He doesn’t tell you to resolve your own problems nor does he promise to carry your problems, but to give you a rest. 

God wants to share life with us, help us to find meaning and purpose in life, give us answers to the problems that we find in our relationships and in whichever other sphere.  In the midst of our pain, at times it is difficult to believe that God can do something for us; nevertheless, it is in Him that we find rest during difficult times.

Prayer:  Thank you, God, for being Father and Friend for us.  Help us to recognize the meaning of and purpose for our lives.  Amen.

UN LUGAR DE DESCANSO

HEBREOS 4:1-16

Por tanto, queda un reposo para el pueblo de Dios

Josué condujo a los israelitas a la tierra prometida después de cuarenta años de estar vagando en el desierto. Sin embargo, el texto nos dice que la tierra no fue el lugar de descanso final de Josué.

Jesús extiende el ofrecimiento de descanso en Mateo 11:28, a todos los que están cansados y llevan cargas de culpa, enojo, agresividad o ansiedad. Observa que Jesús no te pide que dejes tus cargas a un lado y vayas con Él, sino que simplemente vayas a Él. Él no te pide que resuelvas tus propios problemas, ni promete llevarse tus problemas, sino darte un descanso.

Dios desea compartir la vida de nosotros, ayudarnos a encontrar significado y propósito en ella, darnos respuestas a los problemas que encontramos en nuestras relaciones y en cualquier otro ámbito. En medio de nuestro dolor, a veces es difícil creer que Dios puede hacer algo por nosotros; sin embargo, es en Él que encontramos descanso durante los tiempos difíciles.

Oración: Gracias Dios, por ser Padre y Amigo para nosotros. Ayúdanos a reconocer el significado y propósito de mi vida. Amén.
