HAVE THINE OWN WAY
PSALM 100
Know that the Lord is
God.
It is he who made us,
and we are his;
we are his people, the
sheep of his pasture…
Psalm 100:3 (NIV)
In the beautiful hymn:
“Have thine own way, Lord” there are beautiful words: “Thou art the potter, I
am the clay.” These words fire the emotions and provoke a desire to let God
mold us and make us in his image. What a difficult thing to do! We struggle to
create our own world, and to make a plan to bring it about. However, God asks
us to give him free rein. Sheep follow their shepherd and trust him to provide
for them. Submissive to their masters, they graze peacefully on the slopes,
conscious that the shepherd knows everything. What a marvelously relaxing
verbal image: to trust in God’s direction and timing and follow his steps!
To ask him for help in
giving up control is a simple prayer, but it is no easy task. Obedient to his
Word, we can bow our head, ask the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and recognize that
we don’t have control. He is counting on us, but without his participation in
all of our life’s challenges we cannot move forward. This is a day to recognize
that we must wait quietly in our pastures, without arguing, with peaceful
hearts. Awaiting the calm, soft voice. May we resolve today to listen and
follow.
Prayer: Lord, we bow humbly
before you and beseech your divine intervention. Help us to follow your plan
with submissive hearts, ever ready to leave you in control of our lives. Amen.

Reconozcan
que el Señor es Dios; él nos hizo y somos suyos.
Somos su
pueblo, ovejas de su prado.

En el bello
himno: “Haz lo que quieras de mí, Señor” se encuentran unas bellas palabras que
dicen: “Tú el alfarero, yo el barro soy”. Estas palabras agitan las emociones y
provocan el deseo de permitir que Dios nos moldee y nos haga a su imagen. ¡Qué
cosa tan difícil de hacer! Luchamos por crear
nuestro propio mundo, por hacer un plan, por cumplirlo. Sin embargo,
Dios nos pide que le permitamos reinar libremente. Las ovejas siguen a su pastor y confían en él para su sustento.
Sumisas a sus amos, pastan tranquilamente en las laderas, sabiendo que el
pastor lo sabe todo. ¡Qué imagen verbal tan maravillosamente relajante: confiar
en la dirección y el tiempo de Dios y seguir sus pasos!
Pedirle que nos
ayude a abandonar el control es una oración sencilla, pero no es tarea fácil.
En obediencia a su Palabra, podemos inclinar nuestra cabeza, pedir la dirección
del Espíritu Santo y reconocer que no tenemos el control. Él cuenta con
nosotros, pero sin su participación en cada reto de nuestra vida, es imposible
seguir hacia adelante. Este es un día para reconocer que debemos esperar tranquilamente en nuestras laderas,
sin discutir, con el corazón en calma. Esperar la voz suave y tranquila. En el
día de hoy decidamos escuchar y seguir.
Oración:
Señor, humildemente nos inclinamos ante ti y te pedimos tu dirección
divina. Ayúdanos a seguir tu plan con corazones rendidos, siempre dispuestos a
dejarte a ti el control de nuestras vidas. Amén.
