THE GRACE OF GOD IN
CHRIST
JOHN 1:10-19
For the law was given through Moses;
grace and truth came
through Jesus Christ.
John
1:17b
The question of grace
is sometimes misunderstood, inasmuch as it’s clearly an attribute of God, who
gives us unmerited gifts because He is pleased to do so; and not because God
closes his eyes to our human miseries or feeds our conceits.
Grace is not a prize.
A vision of grace that superficial only serves to evade our responsibility
before God and our brethren.
It is certain that
God makes us, the undeserving, objects of His grace through Jesus Christ. It’s
not gift for gift’s sake, neither is it because we may be worthy. Rather, grace
is an immense and diverse gift of love which translates into newness of life
amid great daily challenge and opportunity.
A beautiful song says:
“Today the grace of God will come;
like refreshing rain it will fall from above,
filling your life with peace and love.”
Today’s invitation is
to humbly receive God’s grace, which is nothing other than opening yourself to
salvation, to live it and share it in the fullness of faith and hope every day.
Prayer: Help me, oh God of
life, to receive with renewed gratitude and commitment the grace of your love.
Permit, furthermore, that my life be a channel of your grace. In Christ Jesus, Amen.

GRACIA DE DIOS EN CRISTO
JUAN 1:10-19
Pues la ley por medio de Moisés fue dada,
pero la gracia y la verdad vinieron por medio de Jesucristo.
Juan 1:17b
La
cuestión de la gracia es a veces mal comprendida, ya que si bien es un atributo
de Dios, que nos hace regalos sin merecerlos porque así le place; no es por
ello un Dios que tiene los ojos cerrados a nuestras miserias humanas o que
alimente nuestras vanidades.
La
gracia no es premio. Una visión tan superficial de la gracia, solo sirve para
soslayar nuestra responsabilidad ante Dios y nuestros semejantes.
Lo
cierto es que Dios nos hace objetos de su gracia, inmerecida, que llega a
nosotros a través de Jesucristo. No es el regalo por el regalo, ni porque lo
merezcamos, sino dádiva de amor inmenso
y diverso que se traduce en novedad de vida en tanto reto y oportunidad
cotidianos.
Dice
un hermoso canto: “La gracia de Dios hoy vendrá, como lluvia fresca caerá,
llenando tu vida de amor y de paz.”
La
invitación de este día es a recibir humildemente la gracia de Dios, que no es
otra cosa que abrirse a la salvación para vivirla y compartirla cada día en
plenitud de fe y esperanza.
Oración:
Ayúdame, oh Dios de vida, a recibir la gracia de tu amor con gratitud y
compromiso renovados. Permite que mi vida sea además un canal de tu gracia. En Cristo Jesús. Amén
