PEACE: A FERVENT DESIRE
JOHN 14:25-27
Peace I leave with you;
my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your
hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27
Peace has always been a
fervent desire of humankind, a supreme aspiration of all living creatures, a
precious goal yet to be reached.
Human beings struggle to
attain it through means of conferences, treaties and accords, which
occasionally remain as words written on a sheet of paper. Already many people
have warned that peace is not simply the absence of war or conflict.
Humanity fights
tirelessly in search of the kind of peace that the world gives; and yet, all of
these efforts will be in vain, as long as that same humanity does not attempt
to attain true peace.
On several occasions
I’ve heard that no one can give what one does not have. Let us procure inner
peace, peace in our relationships, and let us share that peace that Jesus
promised us when he said: my peace I give you.
This
is true peace, and when this becomes reality in the life of humanity, we will
enjoy harmonious relationships of justice and equity for all of God’s creation.
Prayer: Lord, grant that we may
be instruments of your peace and that we make your promises a part of our
lives. Amen.

PAZ, UN ANHELO FERVIENTE
JUAN
14:25-27
La paz
os dejo, mi paz os doy; yo no os la doy como el mundo
la da.
No se turbe vuestro corazón ni tenga miedo.

La paz
ha constituido siempre un anhelo ferviente de la humanidad, una suprema
aspiración de todo ser viviente, una preciosa meta aún por alcanzar.
Los
seres humanos se esfuerzan por lograrla por medio de conferencias, tratado,
acuerdos que en ocasiones se quedan escritos en un papel. Ya muchas personas
han advertido que la paz no es únicamente ausencia de guerras o conflictos.
La
humanidad lucha sin descanso en busca de la paz que el mundo da; sin embargo, todos estos intentos serán en
vano, mientras esa misma humanidad no trate de alcanzar la verdadera paz.
He
escuchado en varias ocasiones que nadie puede dar lo que no tiene. Procuremos
la paz interior, la paz en nuestras relaciones y compartamos esa paz que nos
prometió Jesús cuando dijo: Mi paz os dejo.
Esta
es la verdadera paz, cuando esto sea realidad en la vida del ser humano
disfrutaremos de relaciones armoniosas de justicia y equidad para toda la
creación de Dios.
Oración:
Señor, permite que seamos instrumentos de tu paz y que hagamos tus promesas
parte de nuestras vidas. Amén.
