ARE WE READY?
LUKE 12: 39-48
The Lord replied, “Who are the faithful and wise managers whom the master
will put in charge of his household servants, to give them their food at the
proper time? Happy are the servants whom
the master finds fulfilling their responsibilities when he comes.”

A few days ago, I spoke
with a sister in the faith who is very dear to me. She commented to me that she had to remove
herself from the midst of the rancor that was around her due to a discussion in
which she had been mistreated. Her words
were: “I need to rid myself of this because if the Lord comes now, he will
find me weighed down and I have to be ready to travel lightly.” This made me think about the conditions in
which we find ourselves to receive the Lord, who can arrive at any moment.
The parable of the two
servants teaches us that we should be working when the Lord comes. Many believe that the Lord will come soon,
and for this, they wait peacefully in place of working. Although we do not know a fixed date for his
return, at the least we should be always prepared for this moment.
And like the young
mother prepares to receive her baby, gathering things in the hopes that her
little one will use them, thus we should gather good works so that one day,
when the moment arrives, we will be able to place them at the Lord’s feet.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, prepare our minds
and hearts so that we will be prepared when you return. Allow our lives and our works to speak for
us. Amen.
¿ESTAMOS PREPARADOS?
LUCAS 12: 39-48
Y dijo el Señor: ¿Quién es el mayordomo fiel y
prudente al cual su señor pondrá sobre su casa, para que a tiempo les dé su
ración? Bienaventurado aquel siervo al que su Señor le encuentre haciendo así.

Hace
unos días conversaba con una hermana en la fe muy querida para mí. Ella me
comentaba que tenía que quitarse de dentro el rencor que le estaba royendo por
una discusión en la que la habían maltratado, sus palabras fueron: “tengo
que sacarme esto de dentro porque si el Señor viene ahora me va a encontrar
pesada y yo tengo que ir ligera de equipaje”. Esto me hizo pensar en las
condiciones en que nos encontramos para recibir al Señor, que puede llegar, y
llega, en cualquier momento.
La parábola de los dos sirvientes nos enseña
que debemos estar trabajando cuando venga el Señor. Muchos creen que el Señor
viene pronto, y, por tanto, esperan tranquilamente en lugar de trabajar. Aunque no podamos fijar una fecha para su
regreso, por lo menos debemos estar siempre preparados para este momento.
Y como
la joven madre se prepara para recibir a su bebé reuniendo cosas en la
esperanza que las usará su pequeño, así nosotros debemos reunir buenas obras
que algún día, cuando llegue el momento, podamos poner a sus pies.
Oración: Señor Jesús, prepara nuestras mentes y corazones para estar preparados para
cuando tú vengas. Permite que tanto nuestra vida como nuestras obras hablen por
nosotros. Amén.
