      HOW CAN I HOPE?

       1 SAMUEL  1: 1-11

if only you will look on the misery of your servant

    Advent is a time to welcome all that is good: gestures of love, dreams, new births... It is a time to prepare for what is to come. And this requires reflection, making stops along the way to listen to God and discover his signs. This is one of the texts in which we discover that everything good that God gives birth to in our life needs fertile soil: trust, coherence, communion, in short, a willingness of spirit on which God counts. Hannah was a woman of faith. She had a very special relationship with God and was loved by her husband Elkanah. However, this was not enough. Her context required having children to be a complete woman.

    In the midst of a context of injustice and exclusion, how can we have faith? How can we expect the new thing that God can do, that there may be full and abundant life for everyone?  If we continue reading the text we will understand that Hannah's resource is prayer.

    In this Advent let us pray for a disposition to solidarity and not to competition, to the search for justice in our relationships, in short, to the genuine love that God showed us in Jesus: a love that is beyond the limitations of our realities. Let us pray and worship indeed, but let us also begin the change in ourselves. God asks us for coherence, an unceasing search for his justice, communion with his grace and with all his creation.


Prayer: God of hope, allow us to prepare ourselves to receive the loving gift of your Son with a life of prayer and of commitment to your justice. Prepare our spirit for that festive encounter with your Son that removes all bitterness from us due to the difficult realities we live daily. Come with your healing hope that we may live relationships of equity, and communion with all your creation. Amen.

      ¿COMO TENER ESPERANZA?

       1 SAMUEL  1: 1-11

1 Samuel 1:11

Adviento es tiempo de acoger todo lo bueno: gestos de amor, sueños, nuevos nacimientos… Es tiempo de prepararse para lo por venir. Y ello necesita de reflexión, de hacer paradas en el camino para escuchar a Dios y descubrir sus señales. Es este uno de los textos en el que descubrimos que todo lo bueno que Dios hace nacer en nuestra vida necesita de tierra fértil: confianza, coherencia, comunión, en fin una disposición de espíritu con la que Dios cuenta. Ana era una mujer de fe. Ella tenía una relación muy especial con Dios y era amada por su esposo Elcana. Sin embargo, esto no le era suficiente. Su contexto exigía tener hijos para ser una mujer completa.
En medio de un contexto de injusticia y exclusión ¿cómo tener esperanza? ¿Cómo esperar lo nuevo que Dios puede hacer, para que haya vida plena y abundante para todos? Si seguimos leyendo el texto comprenderemos que el recurso de Ana es la oración.
En este Adviento roguemos por una disposición a la solidaridad y no a la competencia, a la búsqueda de la justicia en nuestras relaciones, en fin, al amor genuino que nos mostró Dios en Jesús; un amor que está más allá de las limitaciones de nuestras realidades.
Oremos y adoremos sí, pero también comencemos el cambio en nosotros mismos. Dios nos pide coherencia, búsqueda incesante de su justicia, comunión con su gracia y con toda su creación.

Oración: Dios de la esperanza, permite que nos preparamos para recibir el regalo amoroso de tu Hijo con una vida orante y comprometida con tu justicia. Dispón nuestro espíritu al encuentro festivo con tu Hijo, quita de nosotros toda amargura por las realidades difíciles que vivimos a diario. Ven con tu esperanza que sana para vivir relaciones de equidad, y comunión con toda tu creación. Amén.
