HIDDEN TREASURES

MATTHEW 11: 28-30

     

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens,

and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11: 28 (NRSV)

    It is said that in a famous lace shop in Brussels, there are certain rooms dedicated to the spinning of the most exquisite and delicate designs. These rooms are completely darkened. The light enters only through a small window which shines directly onto the design.   These rooms have only one spinner who sits next to the place where the rays of light shine on the fabric. Lace is always woven in a more exquisite and precious way when the worker is in the dark and only his work is in the light.

    Can’t it be the same with us when we weave our lives? Sometimes we find ourselves in really tight situations, and we forget that we have a God who sees us, is always in the light waiting for us to react and lift our spirits.

    The Word urges us to have faith that we can come before the Lord exhausted, knowing that he will give us rest.


Prayer: Lord, God of love, bring us into the light so that we may live happily and restfully, and try to make our light radiate to others, so that we may give our hidden treasures to God. Amen.

TESOROS ESCONDIDOS

MATEO 11: 28-30

     

Venid a mi todos los que estén trabajados y cansados

y yo los haré descansar.                                                                                                                 Mateo11: 28

 

Se cuenta que en una famosa tienda de encajes, en Bruselas, hay ciertas habitaciones dedicadas a la hilandería de los modelos más primorosos y delicados. Estas habitaciones están completamente obscurecidas. Entra la luz solamente por una pequeña ventana la cual va a parar directamente sobre el modelo. En las habitaciones solo hay un hilador el cual se sienta junto al lugar donde los rayos de luz dan sobre los hilos de un tejido. El encaje siempre se teje de una forma más exquisita y preciosa cuando el obrero está en la obscuridad y su modelo solamente está en la luz.

¿No puede ser que suceda lo mismo con nosotros cuando tejemos nuestras vidas? A veces nos encontramos en situaciones muy difíciles. Y olvidamos que tenemos un Dios que nos ve, siempre está en la luz esperando que reaccionemos y levantemos nuestros corazones.

La palabra nos exhorta a esa confianza, podemos llegar ante el Señor exhaustos, sabiendo que él  nos hará descansar.

Oración: Señor, Dios de amor, llévanos a la luz para que podamos vivir felices y descansados, y tratando que nuestra luz irradie a otros, y así podamos entregar a Dios nuestros tesoros escondidos. Amén.
