SELF-SUFFIENCY

Joshua 7

Joshua said, “Why have you brought this trouble upon us?”  (NIV)

Joshua 7:25ª

His having committed a disobedience was certain, but it’s also certain that they didn’t take into account the possibilities of the men from the Canaanite city of Ai.

We may, as Christians, recognize it, and at times believe we possess all the truth, all the rationality, all the power. It’s clear that Christ can work anything in us, according to what Paul says in Philippians 4:13. But in no way can it lead us to underestimate others, much less lead us to believe that everything we do is right. We should not fear being corrected precisely because we are Christians. We must be humble and think that there are other people who, although they are in other positions, also have possibilities, criteria and reasons for their actions.

The only thing that can ensure victory is knowing who God is.

Before beginning any undertaking, let us consider what our relationship with God is, and what part he has in it.

 

Prayer: Remove self-satisfaction from us, Lord; may we be sufficient in you. Amen.

LA AUTOSUFICIENCIA

Josue 7

Y le dijo Josué: ¿Por qué nos has turbado?...

Josué 7:25a

Es cierto que se había cometido una desobediencia, pero también es cierto que no se tuvieron en cuenta las posibilidades de los hombres de Hai.

Como cristianos, reconozcámoslo, a veces nos creemos tener toda la verdad, toda la razón, todo el poder. Es cierto que Cristo todo lo puede en nosotros, según el decir de Pablo en Filipenses 4:13; pero en ninguna manera puede conducirnos a subestimar a los demás y mucho menos llevarnos a creer que todo lo que hacemos está bien. Precisamente por ser cristianos es que no debemos temer a ser corregidos; debemos ser humildes y pensar que hay otras personas que, aunque se encuentren en otras posiciones, también tienen posibilidades, criterios y razones en su actuar.

Lo único que puede asegurar la victoria es el hecho de conocer de parte de quién esté Dios.

Antes de acometer cualquier empresa, consideremos cuál es nuestra relación  con Dios y qué parte tiene Él en la misma.

 

Oración: Aléjanos, Señor, de la autosuficiencia. Que seamos suficientes en ti. Amén.
