FIDELITY

Acts 2:41–47

They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teachings and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  (NIV)

Acts 2:42

The first Christian communities were distinguished by their testimony of fidelity, and the act of sharing all that they had. They felt the desire to gather each day; there existed such a bond of coexistence among their members that they could not be separated. They broke bread and ate together every day. This was the fidelity and the commitment acquired by having chosen Jesus and his plan of salvation. It made it so that they would continue to remember his presence whenever they broke bread together. That they would accompany each other, that they would console each other, that they would celebrate all this with joy and simplicity of heart.

How near or how far away from these communities are we? How great is our fidelity to Lord Jesus’ plan? Are we willing to share everything?

Let us cultivate coexistence, unity, sharing, joy and simplicity. Let us celebrate by praising and giving thanks for everything. Let us live our faith as a true gospel of love, and by being committed to the ends of God’s project,  those that encouraged the first communities , and who, every day, continues to invite us to follow him. He awaits our faithful, selfless, and constant commitment, that we nay continue acting and sharing in this world that so greatly needs us.

 

Prayer: Help me, Holy Father, to be able to continue being faithful to your teachings, and that, in the practice of that fidelity, the commitment to share everything you have given me is born. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

FIDELIDAD

Hechos 2:41–47

Y eran fieles en conservar la enseñanza de los apóstoles, en compartir lo que tenían, en reunirse para partir el pan y en la oración.

Hechos 2:42

Las primeras comunidades cristianas se distinguían por su testimonio de fidelidad y el hecho de compartir todo lo que tenían. Sentían el deseo de reunirse todos los días; existía tal lazo de coexistencia entre sus miembros que no podían estar separados.  Todos los días partían el pan y comían juntos. La fidelidad y el compromiso adquirido por haber optado por Jesús y su plan de salvación hizo que continuaran rememorando su presencia al partir el pan juntos, que se acompañaran, que se consolaran, que celebraran; y todo esto con alegría y sencillez de corazón.

¿Cuán cerca o cuán lejos estamos de estas comunidades? ¿Qué tan grande es nuestra fidelidad al proyecto del Señor Jesús como para que sintamos la necesidad de compartirlo todo?

Intentemos practicar siempre la fidelidad a la enseñanzas de Dios y a nuestra tradición; cultivemos la convivencia, la unidad, el compartir, la alegría y la sencillez, celebremos alabando y dando gracias por todo, vivamos nuestra fe como un verdadero evangelio de amor y comprometidos hasta el final con este proyecto de Dios, que animó a las primeras comunidades, y que nos continúa invitando todos los días a seguirle, esperando nuestro compromiso fiel, desinteresado y constante, para poder continuar actuando y compartiendo en este mundo que tanto necesita de nosotros.

 

Oración: Anímame, Padre Santo, para poder seguir siendo fiel a tus enseñanzas; y que en la práctica de esa fidelidad nazca el compromiso de compartir todo cuanto me has regalado. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
