MUCH GRACE, AND LITTLE LAW

Hebrews 12:7-11

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful later on; however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.  (NIV)

Hebrews 12:11

In the times of Jesus, people lived with a lot of law and little grace. But I think that in our times we are living with a lot of grace and little law.

In our condition as fallen beings, it is true that fulfilling the law of God is a difficult task. But we need it, even when it seems annoying. Through the law we can know what sin is, and by removing it from our lives, we are sanctified. Sanctification is a process that hurts, but that is the testimony we have  adopted as children of God, and that our Father has not abandoned us.

Sometimes God shows you his love through his mercy. But  other times, he does it with the rod that teaches you what is good and appropriate. That is a sign that he has taken you as a son. He has adopted you, justifying you and making you, a sinner, a citizen of his Kingdom. If we have received that privilege, then let us live for him, keeping his Word, giving faithful testimony of a true conversion and not being false Christians, who go around ridiculing the name of Christ.

 

Prayer: I thank you, my Father, for your correction. I thank you because you have not allowed me to do my will, you have frustrated my hopes, you have spoiled my plans, you have collapsed my expectations. I thank you for giving freedom to my spirit, and for having broken the ties of my captivity that bound me to the earth, so that I can go up on high to you. Amen.

MUCHA GRACIA Y POCA LEY

Hebreos 12:7-11

Es verdad que ninguna disciplina al presente parece ser causa de gozo, sino de tristeza; pero después da fruto apacible de justicia a los que en ella han sido ejercitados

Hebreos 12:11

En los tiempos de Jesús se vivía con mucha ley y poca gracia. Pero creo que en nuestros tiempos estamos viviendo con mucha gracia y poca ley.

Es cierto que cumplir la ley de Dios, en nuestra condición de seres caídos, es una tarea difícil, pero necesitamos de ella, aun cuando nos parezca molesta. A través de la ley podemos conocer lo que es el pecado, y apartándolo de nuestras vidas, somos santificados. La santificación es un proceso que duele, pero ese es el testimonio de que hemos sido adoptados como hijos y que nuestro Padre no nos ha abandonado.

En ocasiones, Dios te muestra su amor a través de su misericordia. Pero en otras lo hace con la vara que te enseña lo que es bueno y conveniente; eso es señal de que te ha tomado como hijo. Él te ha adoptado justificándote, y haciéndote a ti, pecador, un ciudadano de su Reino. Si hemos recibido ese privilegio, entonces vivamos para Él, guardando su Palabra, dando fiel testimonio de una verdadera conversión y no siendo cristianos de nombre, los cuales andan por ahí ridiculizando el nombre de Cristo.

 

Oración: “Yo te doy gracias, Padre mío, por tu corrección. Te doy gracias porque no has permitido que haga mi voluntad, has frustrado mis esperanzas, has echado a perder mis planes, has derrumbado mis expectativas. Te doy gracias por dar libertad a mi espíritu, y por haber roto las ataduras de mi cautividad que me ligaban a la tierra, para que me pueda remontar a lo alto, hasta ti. Amén.”
