WITH STRENGTH AND COURAGE

Mark 4:35-41

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (NIV)

Joshua 1:9

Who hasn’t felt fear at sometime in their life? According to Scripture, the antidote for fear is courage, which is the capacity and the will to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. To live implies making decisions and encountering different challenges every day. To have strength and encourage can mean different things to different people. In today’s passage, the disciples found themselves trapped by a storm on the Sea of Galilee. The Sea of Galilee was known for its storms. The disciples were desperate, and their fear was fully justified. They knew that the boat could sink; therefore, they decided to wake Jesus and call for him to calm the waters.

Today’s passage offers us hope when we encounter times or experiences of fear. It tells us that God is with us in the midst of life’s storms, and also when we are called to assume some project, mission or task; and even more so when we must make a decision. It reaffirms God’s promise to us, “I command you to be strong and courageous; do not fear or be dismayed, because Jehovah, your God, is with you no matter where you go.”

 

Prayer: Lord, infuse courage and confidence in our hearts so that on this day we do not give up in the face of difficulties, knowing that you will not leave us alone in the test. Help us to live with and for love, and to share it in our environment. Amen.

CON FUERZA Y VALENTIA

Marcos 4:35-41

Mira que te mando que te esfuerces y seas valiente; no temas ni desmayes, porque Jehová tu Dios estará contigo en dondequiera que vayas

Josué 1:9

¿Quién no ha sentido miedo alguna vez en su vida? Según las Escrituras, el antídoto contra el miedo es la valentía, que es la capacidad y la voluntad de enfrentar el miedo, el dolor, el peligro, la incertidumbre o la intimidación. Vivir implica tomar decisiones y enfrentar diferentes desafíos cada día. Tener fuerza y valentía puede significar cosas diferentes para cada persona.

En nuestro pasaje de hoy los discípulos se encontraban atrapados en una tormenta en el lago de Galilea. El mar de Galilea era conocido por sus tormentas. Los discípulos estaban desesperados, y su miedo estaba claramente justificado. Sabían que la barca podía hundirse, así que decidieron despertar a Jesús y reclamarle por su aparente calma.

El pasaje de hoy nos brinda esperanza cuando enfrentamos tiempos o experiencia de miedo. Nos dice que Dios está con nosotros en medio de las tormentas de la vida, y también cuando somos llamados a asumir algún proyecto, misión o tarea; aún más, cuando debemos tomar una decisión se nos reafirma la promesa de Dios: Mira que te mando que te esfuerces y seas valiente; no temas ni desmayes, porque Jehová tu Dios estará contigo en dondequiera que vayas.

 

Oración: Señor, infunde valentía y confianza en nuestro corazón para que en este día no nos rindamos ante las dificultades sabiendo que no nos dejarás solos en la prueba. Ayúdanos a vivir con y por amor, y para compartirlo en nuestro entorno. Amén.
