JESUS WEPT

According to the custom, Martha’s departure from the house
could only relate to a visit to the tomb since they were in the seven-day
period of mourning. On the other hand, the period was used to anoint the body
with aromatic substances and to weep at the tomb.
A group of people followed the sister, and were surprised to
find Jesus next to Lazarus’ tomb. It is not difficult to infer that the crowd
was divided at least between those who expected something, those who expected
nothing, and those who were curious and cared little for Lazarus’ family but
wanted to see Jesus at close hand.
There is something that was surely evident to all: on the
one hand the faith of Mary, and on the other Jesus’ love for Lazarus. There is
no question that the meeting of a sincere faith and a deep love are the
favorable sign for realization of a miracle. Not only the miracle of
resurrection, but also many others that being numerous and everyday are not
taken seriously and pass by unnoticed. When a person’s sincere faith meets the
more than proven love of Jesus Christ, the cross rises as the maker and
inspirer of miracles.
We invite you to put your faith in the path of Christ’s
love. We are certain that you will see the miracle of your resurrection; that
is the birth of new life.
Prayer: God of history, help us to accept modestly the call that
comes to us through Christ’s love. Amen.

De acuerdo a la
costumbre, la salida de Marta de la casa no podía responder más que a una
visita a la tumba, dado que se encontraban en el período de luto que duraba
siete días. Por otra parte, se usaba ungir al fallecido con sustancias
aromáticas y llorar a la entrada de la tumba.
Un grupo de personas siguió
a la hermana y se encontró con la sorpresa de que, junto a la tumba de Lázaro,
estaba Jesús.
Nos es difícil inferir
que la concurrencia estaba al menos dividida entre los que esperaban algo, los
que no esperaban nada y los curiosos que no querían tanto a la familia de
Lázaro, pero querían ver a Jesús de cerca.
Hay algo que sí fue
evidente para todos: por un lado, la fe de María, y por el otro el amor de
Jesús hacia Lázaro.
Es incuestionable que el
encuentro de una fe sincera y un amor profundo son el marco propicio para que
se realice el milagro. No sólo el milagro de la resurrección, sino otros muchos
que, por ser numerosos y cotidianos, no son tomados en cuenta y pasan inadvertidos.
Cuando la fe sincera del ser humano se cruza con el amor más que probado de
Jesucristo, surge la cruz hacedora e inspiradora de milagros. Te invitamos a
que pongas tu fe en el camino del amor de Cristo. Estamos seguros de que
presenciarás el milagro de tu resurrección; o sea, el nacimiento de una nueva
vida.
Oración: Ayúdanos Dios de la historia, a aceptar modestamente
el llamamiento que nos llega a través del amor de Cristo. Amén.
