MY STRENGTH

PSALM 18:1-7

I love you, Lord, my strength.

Psalm 18:1

The Psalmist must have felt overwhelmed when he said these words, and we often feel that way, too. At times like that we often don’t have strength even to pray. We don’t know what to say to God, and we lack the energy to form the words or the right thoughts. That’s when we need to keep it simple: “I love you, Lord.” That’s all we need to say.

When we say these three little words to God, we turn his ear and his heart to us. When we murmur our love for him, even though we lack the strength to say another word, he appears and becomes our strength. He surrounds us with his powerful arms, beckons us to his lap of love and consolation, and pours his life and his love in our spirit.

Actually, it is at these times of weakness when we don’t have anything more to offer God that he becomes strong within us. He longs for our love above all else. When we give it to him, no matter how weak we feel, he gives us strength.

Prayer: Beloved God, sometimes I feel too weak to carry on. But Lord, I love you even then. I know that in my moments of weakness, you are my strength. Amen.

MI FUERZA

SALMO 18:1-7

¡Cuánto te amo, Señor, fuerza mía!

Salmo 18:1

Seguramente el salmista se sentía abrumado al pronunciar estas palabras y así nos sentimos muchas veces. En momentos como estos a menudo  no tenemos la fuerza ni siquiera para orar. No sabemos qué decirle a Dios y no tenemos la energía para formular las palabras  o los  pensamientos correctos. Es entonces cuando necesitamos simplificar: “Te amo, Señor.” es todo lo que necesitamos decir.

Cuando pronunciamos esas tres pequeñas palabras a Dios, inclinamos su oído a nosotros, inclinamos su corazón a nosotros. Cuando le susurramos nuestro amor por Él, aunque no tengamos la fuerza de pronunciar otra palabra, Él aparece  y se convierte  en nuestra fuerza. Nos rodea con sus poderosos brazos, nos atrae a su regazo de amor y consuelo, y derrama su vida y su amor en nuestro espíritu.

En verdad, es en esos momentos de debilidad cuando no tenemos nada más que ofrecerle a Dios, cuando Él se hace fuerte en nosotros. Anhela nuestro amor por encima de todo lo demás. Cuando lo damos, por débiles que podamos sentirnos, Él se convierte en fuerza para nosotros.

Oración: Amado Dios, a veces me siento débil  como si no pudiera seguir. Pero Señor, te amo incluso entonces. Sé que en mis momentos de debilidad, tú eres mi fuerza. Amén.
