MISTAKES

JOHN 14:25-29

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.

I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

John 14:27 (NRSV)

            We often hear many people who know biblical texts and have the gift to recite them from memory. We remember: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, or I can do everything in Christ who strengthens me or recite every Sunday If God is for us, who can be against us? If we recite these passages but the fear of failure paralyzes us, the result is empty words that we can’t internalize.

            How many fears do we carry in our lives? These fears prevent us from achieving an adequate harmony between God, ourselves, creation, and above all, an interior harmony within ourselves. These fears are the frustrations that dog our steps every day, preventing us from seeing what God places in our path, sometimes joys and sometimes sorrows . . .  Facing these situations doesn’t mean that everything will turn out all right but that you didn’t give up trying.

            If, in trying to achieve our purposes, we forget faith, the hope we have placed in the Lord, and see from another perspective, can God trust us? Will we be what God has put in the world to change it? Let’s not become selfish in the attempt to achieve interior harmony out of fear of failure. There really can be no failure if, in every struggle and response, we reveal God’s will in us and demonstrate the certainty that it is He who leads us day by day.

            May fear never hinder your steps when you truly try to achieve God’s purpose for all of God’s children.

Prayer: Forgive us, Lord, when we are wrong, when we allow ourselves to be overcome by doubt, when we don’t behave as you expect. We pray this with contrition in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

EQUIVOCACIONES

JUAN 14:25-29

La paz les dejo, mi paz les doy; yo no la doy como el mundo la da. No dejen que su corazón se turbe y tengan miedo

Con frecuencia escuchamos a muchos que conocen textos bíblicos y hasta tienen el don de recitarlos de memoria. Recordemos: El Señor es mi Pastor, nada me faltará o Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece o repetimos cada domingo Si Dios con nosotros ¿quién contra nosotros?  

Cuando recitamos estos textos, pero el miedo al fracaso nos paraliza, resultan pues repeticiones vacías que no logramos interiorizar. ¿Cuántos temores tenemos en nuestras vidas?   Esos son los temores que nos impiden conseguir una adecuada armonía entre Dios, nosotros, lo creado y, sobre todo, armonía en nosotros mismos. Esos temores son las frustraciones que nos acompañan a cada paso, y que nos impiden enfrentar lo que día a día el Señor pone en nuestros caminos, a veces alegrías, a veces tristezas… 

El enfrentamiento a cualquier situación no significa que todo saldrá bien, sino que no te detuviste al intentarlo. En el intento por conseguir nuestros propósitos se nos olvida la fe, la esperanza que hemos depositado en el Señor y si lo miramos desde otra óptica, ¿podrá Dios confiar en nosotros?  ¿Seremos nosotros lo que ha puesto Dios en el mundo para conseguir cambiarlo?

No nos volvamos egoístas en el intento de encontrar la armonía y por el temor al fracaso. Realmente no existe el fracaso si en cada intento, en cada respuesta está la voluntad de Dios aceptada por nosotros y la certeza de que es Él quien nos guía y acompaña cada día. ¡Qué el miedo no detenga tus pasos en el verdadero intento de lograr el propósito de Dios para cada uno de sus hijos e hijas!

Oración: Perdónanos Señor, cuando nos equivocamos, cuando nos dejamos vencer por el miedo y la duda, cuando no nos comportamos como tú esperas de nosotros. Te lo pedimos con arrepentimiento en el nombre de Cristo Jesús, amén.
