A CALL TO BE KIND

EPHESIANS 4

Be kind and compassionate to one another,

forgiving each other, just as

in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

Accepting Jesus Christ as Lord means leaving the kingdom of darkness and entering the kingdom of light. Living in the light includes growing in kindness. It is impossible to separate kindness from love. We must pity so-called Christians who spend most of their time criticizing others. Some believers in Christ still do not understand the fact that one must hate the sin but love the sinner. True kindness includes both our attitude and our actions. A kind person is a strong person. Anybody can hate, that is easy; but to love and show it with acts of kindness requires strength and maturity.

Why do you think that the commandment to love one another is repeated so often in the Bible?

It is because of our human nature. We tend to forget the most important things. God calls us to love ourselves and each other. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8). We should never say: “When it comes to loving one another I have done enough.” As long as we live we owe others the love of God. Love covers all the devout qualities.

Prayer: Loving God, fill us with kindness to carry out your mandate to love one another. Amen.

EFESIOS 4

Antes ser benignos unos con otros, misericordiosos,

perdonándonos unos a otros, como Dios

también os perdonó a vosotros en Cristo

Aceptar a Jesucristo como Señor incluye dejar el reino de las tinieblas y entrar en el Reino de la luz. Vivir en la luz incluye crecer en bondad. En realidad, no se puede separar la bondad del amor. Tenemos que compadecernos de aquellos llamados “cristianos”, que pasan gran parte de su tiempo criticando a los demás. Algunos creyentes en Cristo todavía no entienden la diferencia que hay entre odiar el pecado, pero amar al pecador. La verdadera bondad incluye tanto nuestra actitud como nuestras acciones. Una persona bondadosa es una persona fuerte. Cualquiera puede odiar, eso es fácil; pero para amar y mostrarlo con actos de bondad se necesita fuerza y madurez.

¿Por qué crees que el mandamiento de amarnos unos a otros se repite tanto en la Biblia? Es debido a nuestra naturaleza humana. Somos propensos a olvidarnos de las cosas fundamentales. Dios nos hace una exhortación constante a amarnos y cuidarnos los unos a los otros. No debáis a nadie nada, sino el amaros unos a otros; porque el que ama al prójimo ha cumplido la ley (Romanos 13:8). Nunca debemos decir: “En cuestiones del amor al prójimo ya he hecho lo suficiente”. Mientras vivamos les debemos a otros el amor de Dios. El amor abarca todas las cualidades piadosas.

Oración: Dios amoroso, llénanos de bondad para cumplir tu mandato de amarnos los unos a los otros. Amén.
