CRY OUT IN ANGUISH
1 SAMUEL 1: 9-18
“Go in peace,
and pray the God of
Israel
grant you what you have asked of him.” (NIV)
1 Samuel 1:17
Who has not felt
troubled when confronted with an overwhelming situation, and has cried out to
God, asking for help? Who has not made
his own the words of the psalmist, “I will raise my eyes to the mountains […]
my help comes from Yahweh.”
Life is full of
heartaches. Like it or not, misfortune surprises us on multiple occasions. Our
faith is tested there, in the middle of the situation that oppresses us.
Hannah felt sterility
as an unbearable condition, which in her epoch carried a discriminatory
treatment: childlessness was considered a divine curse, without considering
that should her husband die she would be destitute if she had no son to
represent her. It wasn’t for nothing that in the Bible constant mention is made
about caring for orphans and widows.
If you believe that
in some way you are trapped in a situation, then cast your eyes toward heaven
and cry out to Him. The Lord doesn’t send blame as a reprisal, rather, he
surrounds us with moments that finally permit us – just like Hannah – to sing a
song of praise for the powerful hand of God that works marvels among us.
Passing through tests
and difficulties, we will see them as a resource for reaching a more elevated
plane of faith and relationship with God.
Prayer: We know that we don’t always cry out to you with the faith
that should move us. That we don’t always cry out with the necessary intensity
and devotion as to recognize that you will respond to us. Even so, you show us
your grace. Help us at least to recognize it and to praise you for it.

CLAMAR
EN LA ANGUSTIA
1
SAMUEL 1: 9-18
Ve
1
Samuel 1:17
cielo y clama a Él.
