THE LIFE WE OUGHT TO LIVE

NUMBERS 22:1-20

But Balaam replied to the servants of Balak, AAlthough Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the command of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

In our lives it’s possible that at certain times we can be tempted by great comfort and well-being, or in holding a position whose power affects the lives of many. We are in the service of God, but we are never going to know what we must do to fulfill his will. God’s Word orients us to certain criteria. God’s presence is stronger than the most powerful and is strength for the weak, whom God defends, encourages, and leads with his Word, especially in the most difficult times.

God is an unconditional defender of the vulnerable. There’s no point in resisting this reality. It’s not possible to negotiate with God’s will nor to take gain from it. I cannot use God’s will for what might be useful for my will, nor can I pretend that my will is the will of God. Powerful people, having great power and wealth, find themselves in situations where they become helpless. In such cases, there are things that money can’t buy or pay for. God always thinks about the best for his people. Our lives are in service to this difference.

Prayer: Father, don’t let me fall into temptation to what is comfortable and easy. Help me to resist, for we pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

NUMEROS 22:1-20

En nuestra vida es posible que en algún momento podamos ser tentados con mucha comodidad y bienestar, con ocupar un cargo cuya función afecte la vida de mucha gente. Estamos al servicio de Dios, pero nunca vamos a saber qué tenemos que hacer para cumplir con su voluntad. La Palabra de Dios nos orienta con algunos criterios. La presencia de Dios es más fuerte que el más poderoso, y es fortaleza para los débiles a quienes Dios defiende, exhorta y conduce con su Palabra, especialmente en los momentos más difíciles.

Dios es un defensor incondicional de los vulnerables. No tiene sentido resistirse a esta realidad. No se puede negociar con la voluntad de Dios ni lucrar con ella. No puedo usar la voluntad de Dios para que sea útil a mi voluntad, ni puedo pretender que mi voluntad sea la voluntad de Dios. Los poderosos, teniendo mucho poder y dinero, enfrentan situaciones en las que se ven indefensos. En algunos casos, hay cosas que el dinero no puede comprar ni pagar. Dios siempre piensa en lo mejor para su pueblo. Nuestra vida está al servicio de esta diferencia.

Oración: No me dejes caer en la tentación, Padre, de lo cómodo y lo fácil. Ayúdame a resistirla. Por Cristo Jesús te lo pedimos, amén.
