AN EXAMPLE WORTH IMITATING
PROVERBS 16 :31
Gray hair is a crown of glory
Proverbs 16:31(a) (NRSV)
I confess
that one of the letters I have read and on which I have had cause to reflect is
the one directed by Ho Chi Minh to the Vietnamese elders in the year 1945:
“Gentlemen, I address you as an elder. When old age arrives,
so says the proverb, talent is exhausted. That is what the elders of our
country often think. If a task presents itself, they are heard to say: When you get old, you must remain calm. Every passing day,
the years weigh on us. Ambition is not of our age. Let’s leave the problems of
life to the young. We already have one foot in the grave. Why work? I don’t share that opinion. True patriots
have never resigned themselves to inaction because of age. Each one of us,
young or old, must take part in shouldering the work. The young will carry the
heaviest part of the work; we whose age prevents us from doing so much, will
march at the head, baton in hand, to exhort them and give them experience. Our
age imposes on us the obligation to be the first in uniting sincerely in order
to set an example. . .”
I think this is a challenge for us who have spent so many more
years in the work of the Presbyterian Church in our country, to direct our
steps to be an example before the generations of youth who are taking shape. We
must all come together with immense desire to serve, to love, to edify, to be
useful. No matter the age, there will always be a place for each one of us.
Having gray hair forces us to serve with greater strength our Church in Cuba.
Prayer: Lord, help us to understand that age makes no
difference if it is about working together for your Church, putting forth our
best effort.

UN EJEMPLO DIGNO DE
IMITAR
PROVERBIOS 16:31
Corona de honra es la
vejez
Proverbios 16:31
No comparto esa opinión.
Oración: Señor, ayúdanos a
haciendo nuestro mayor esfuerzo. Amén.
