BLESSING FOR THE NEW YEAR

May the road rise to meet you,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

May the rains fall soft upon your fields,

May the wind be ever at your back.

May you hold in your heart

gratitude for the precious memory

of the good things of life.

May every gift that God creates in you

help you to bring happiness

to the hearts of those you love.

May your eyes glow with friendship,

gracious and generous like the sun, which comes out

between the clouds and warms the tranquil sea.

May God’s strength keep you firm,

may God’s eyes behold you,

may God’s ears hear you,

may God’s Word speak to you,

may God’s hand protect you,

and until we meet again,

may God hold you, and everybody,

in the palm of his hand.
