THE LIGHT
LUKE 1: 67-79
because of the tender
mercy of our God,
by which the
rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on
those living in darkness
and in the
shadow of death,
to guide our
feet into the paths of peace.

Every morning I
look for the sunrise because I have a special feeling of immense gratitude for
this precious gift. The sun gives us heat and light, and light is the symbol of
a new opportunity to live.
When I see this
light, I think about Jesus Christ, the greatest light of all, and the shadows
and darkness of this world all disappear. But we should not look only at these
moments of spiritual satisfaction. There are many elderly, lonely, abused
people and boys and girls who are victims of family violence. We must feel
responsible for guiding these vulnerable people toward the saving light of
Jesus. There are many people who need justice, love, and peace, and are waiting
for that light.
With the light
that God gives us—that internal light—he wants to illuminate and guide us to go
through the world, this small world that is the community where we live. He
gives us his light to take it to those who only see sadness, indifference, and
physical and spiritual aggression. May we let the Lord’s light illuminate our
spirit, show us the path of peace, and guide us to be bearers of the light that
gives life to those who live in darkness.
Prayer: Good God, in this
Lenten season give me strength and courage to take your light to those around
me. Amen.

LUCAS 1: 67-79
Porque
nuestro Dios, en su gran misericordia,
nos
trae de lo alto el sol de un nuevo día,
para
dar luz a los que viven en la más profunda oscuridad,
y
dirigir nuestros pasos por el camino de la paz.

Cada
mañana busco la salida del sol porque siento algo muy especial, una gratitud
inmensa por ese regalo precioso. El sol nos regala calor, luz, la luz es el
símbolo de una nueva oportunidad de vivir.
Cuando
siento esa luz, pienso en Jesucristo que es la luz por excelencia, todas las
oscuridades y las tinieblas de este mundo desaparecen. Pero no debemos
aislarnos en esos instantes de plenitud espiritual, hay muchas personas
ancianas, solitarias, violentadas, niños y niñas que son víctimas de la
violencia familiar. Debemos sentirnos responsables para guiar a estas personas
vulnerables hacia esa luz salvadora que es Jesús. Hay muchas personas
necesitadas de justicia, amor y paz, que esperan por esa luz.
Con
la luz que Dios nos regala, esa luz interior, él quiere iluminarnos y guiarnos
para que vayamos por el mundo, nuestro pequeño mundo que es la comunidad donde
vivimos. Nos da su luz para que la llevemos a quienes sólo ven las tristezas, indiferencia, agresiones
físicas y espirituales. Dejemos que la luz del Señor penetre en nuestro
espíritu, nos ilumine por el camino de la paz y nos guíe para ser portadores de
luz que dé vida a los que viven en tinieblas.
Oración: Dios
bueno, en esta Cuaresma dame fuerza y valor
para llevar tu luz a los que me rodean. Amén.
