THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: A LIFE OF HUMILITY
PHILIPPIANS- 2:1-11

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.  (NIV)
Philippians 2:3

The legend has it that in Scotland there lived a villager who was accustomed to treat those around him with haughtiness and arrogance. His pride was so great that at times it impeded his relationships, including with family members and intimates. He lived thinking only of the day when his riches would be so great that they would allow him to visit the king’s court.

One cold night he found himself in bed when suddenly someone knocked at his door. His wife looked out the dirty glass of the window, and in the face of the villager’s impertinent shouts, answered, “It’s a poor tired hunter, and maybe he needs help.”  “Let those of his own class offer it to him,” the proud villager responded.

When morning came the talk of the region was that the King of Scotland had gone out to hunt the night before, and finding himself lost, knocked at the villager’s door. Not finding an answer, he sought refuge at another shelter.

Only a humble life, one of service to others, is the appropriate place so that the King of Kings may enter to dwell. Remove arrogance and pride from your life so that Christ may fully enter it.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, have mercy on me.  Don’t allow pride and vanity to dwell in such a way in me that they obstruct your entrance into my heart. Amen.

VIDA CRISTIANA: VIDA DE HUMILDAD
FILIPENSES 2:1-11

Nada hagáis por contienda o por vanagloria,
antes siendo humildes
Filipenses 2:3
