Anniversary of the church in Iguará

TRUE HAPPINESS

PSALM 1

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked,

 or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers,

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,

and who meditates on his law day and night.  (NIV)

Psalm 1:1-2

If one makes an imaginary trip on the earth, the heart will easily overflow with suffering.

In the face of so much death, destruction, and atrocities, one can fall into the temptation of weariness. In the face of so much irreverent mockery of God’s designs, rage, violence, justice taken into one’s own hands surfaces in the most severe sentiments that can dehumanize us. One can fall into dismay and think that the Gospel is an unrealizable utopia, that the fraternity based on truth and justice will not be possible. One can tire of betting on the good.

But before the crossroad, before the option for another work, the way is that of the evil, of those who mock God. Then a soft and constant whisper comes to the heart’s ears:  Happy the man who puts his love in the Lord’s law, and meditates on it day and night. 

One rests, recuperating strength, seeing the content human being who tames the bread of life in the struggle of daily routine and gives it to a small but noble cause.  Happy is he who generates new spaces in his family, in his neighborhood, in his town, so that new life may open a way.  Happy is he who fights for the dignity of his brothers excluded from the fraternal table.  Happy is he who continues to believe that Jesus is the Lord of history and conquered evil and death forever…

Happy. Have you asked yourself why you’re happy?         

Prayer:  Celestial Father, may my daily life reflect your love and show others that I am one of your disciples. Amen.

Aniversario de la Iglesia en Iguará

FELICIDAD VERDADERA

SALMO  1

Feliz el hombre que no sigue el consejo de los malvados,

ni va por el camino de los pecadores, ni hace causa común

con los que se burlan de Dios, sino que pone su amor

en la ley del Señor y en ella medita noche y día

Salmo 1:1-2

Si uno hace un viaje imaginario por la tierra, fácilmente el corazón se le llena de congoja. Ante tanta muerte, destrucción y atropello, se puede caer en la tentación del cansancio. Ante tanta burla irreverente a los designios de Dios, afloran en uno los sentimientos más fuertes que pueden deshumanizarnos; la ira, la violencia, la justicia por mano propia. Uno puede caer en el desaliento, y pensar que el Evangelio es una utopía irrealizable, que la fraternidad basada en la verdad y la justicia no será posible. Uno puede cansarse de apostar al bien.

Pero ante la encrucijada, ante la opción por otro proyecto, el camino es el de los malvados, de los que se burlan de Dios. Entonces un susurro suave y constante llega a los oídos del corazón: Feliz el hombre que pone su amor en la ley del Señor y en ella medita noche y día.

Uno descansa recuperando fuerzas para ver que es feliz el ser humano que amansa el pan de la vida en lo cotidiano de la lucha y la entrega por una causa pequeña, pero noble. Feliz quien genera espacios nuevos en su familia, en su barrio, en su pueblo, para que la vida nueva se abra paso. Feliz el que lucha por la dignidad de sus hermanos excluidos de la mesa fraternal. Feliz el que sigue creyendo que Jesús  es el Señor de la historia y venció el mal y la muerte para siempre…feliz ¿te has preguntado por qué eres feliz?

Oración: Padre Celestial, permite que mi vida diaria pueda reflejar tu amor y mostrar a otros que soy uno de tus discípulos. Amén
