THEY WILL RECEIVE POWER

Last month in January the Synod Assembly was held, the
most important and inclusive meeting of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in
Cuba. But it’s never too late to dedicate a day to meditate on our church.
We may be disappointed by many things that form a part of
human institutions like the church, or we may be misunderstood within it, or
there may be cases of persecution (as is still the case in many countries). Some
consider the church to be like a museum, where life slowly goes on disappearing,
or as a flow of moral power. Others call
upon it to come out in favor of a cause, a crusade or a party. If it responds
to some, others will withdraw to denigrate or indict it.
When the
church is conscious of its mission, with sound reason, all the people of this world,
and perhaps the best, will feel scandalized by it one time or another. But
let’s not forget what is essential: the church is of God, and its power is to
love and serve!
The church has
the sole mission of making Jesus Christ present to humanity, announcing it,
showing and giving it to everyone, knowing that he will always be with us!
Prayer: Lord, I give
you thanks for your church, its leaders and all its faithful. Amen.

Yo estaré con ustedes todos los días,
hasta el fin del mundo

En el pasado mes de enero se celebró la
Asamblea del Sínodo, la reunión más importante e inclusiva de la Iglesia
Presbiteriana Reformada en Cuba. Pero nunca es tarde para dedicar un día a
meditar sobre nuestra Iglesia.
Puede suceder que nos desilusionen muchas cosas que
forman parte de las instituciones humanas como la Iglesia, o que seamos
incomprendidos en ella, o puede darse el caso de padecer persecución en su seno
(como ocurre aún en muchos países). Algunos la consideran como un museo de
donde la vida va desapareciendo paulatinamente. O bien como un caudal de
potencia moral. Otros le hacen un llamado para que se pronuncie en favor de una
causa, una cruzada o un partido. Si responde a unos, los otros se retirarán
para denigrarla o acusarla.
Cuando la Iglesia es consciente de su misión, con razón, todas
las personas de este mundo, y quizás las mejores, se sentirán un día u otro
escandalizadas por ella. ¡Pero no
olvidemos lo que es esencial: ¡la Iglesia es de Dios, y su poder es el de amar
y servir!
La Iglesia tiene la única
misión de hacer presente a Jesucristo a la humanidad, anunciarlo, ¡mostrarlo y
darlo a todos sabiendo que él estará siempre con nosotros!
Oración. Señor, te
doy gracias por tu Iglesia, sus líderes y sus fieles todos. Amén.
