TO BUILD

1 CORINTHIANS 14:12-26

So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit,

 try to excel in those that build up the church.  (NIV)

That’s how we are, this is our life, a miraculous process constantly building. It’s a dynamic conception of human existence, a Christian idea that in body and spirit you are the building of God the Father. The word “to build” is connected etymologically to the Latin “facere.” That means “to do. It is also synonymous with building.

The Bible frequently uses these terms for the fecundity of its sense when they are applied to the fact of life. To love is to build, construct, erect. Our body is activated each moment. From childhood we reach senescence, not because of time, but because our body grows inexorably due to the natural laws the Lord has set. Building is so evident in the spiritual world. We build our bodies for the final years on earth, and we construct the spiritual building for the terrestrial Kingdom, and for the most important: the eternity of God. Paul repeats the idea that God has given you power to build and not destroy. Let’s be humble then, the humble and industrious artisans who, led by the Supreme Architect, Jesus Christ, are building our lives on the foundations of his word. Live to build every moment. 

Prayer: Lord, let us be faithful to you, and may we have faithful expressions of the truths of your Word. Amen.

EDIFICAR

1 CORINTIOS 14:12-26

Así también vosotros; pues que anheláis dones espirituales,

procurad abundar en ellos para edificación de la iglesia

1 Corintios 14:12

Así somos, así es nuestra vida: un proceso milagroso en constante edificación. Es una concepción dinámica de la existencia humana, idea cristiana de que en cuerpo y en espíritu sois edificio del Dios Padre. El vocablo: edificar está conectado en su acepción etimológica al “facere” de los latinos que significa: hacer. Es también sinónimo de construir. La Biblia usa frecuentemente estos términos, por la fecundidad de su sentido, cuando se aplican al hecho de la vida. Vivir es hacer, construir, edificar. Nuestro cuerpo se activa a cada momento. Desde la niñez vamos alcanzando la senectud, no por razón del tiempo, sino porque nuestro cuerpo, crece inexorablemente debido a leyes naturales que el Señor ha puesto.

En el mundo espiritual la edificación es tan evidente. Edificamos nuestro cuerpo para los años finitos de lo terreno y construimos el edificio espiritual para el Reino de la tierra y para lo más importante: la eternidad de Dios. Pablo repite la idea de que Dios le había dado potestad para edificar y no para destruir. Seamos pues, los humildes y laboriosos artesanos que, dirigidos por el Supremo Arquitecto, Cristo Jesús, construimos nuestra vida sobre los cimientos de su Palabra. Vivid a cada instante para edificar.

Oración:  Permítenos Señor, serte fieles y que podamos tener expresiones fieles de las verdades de tu Palabra. Amén.
