LET US BE THANKFUL PEOPLE

LUKE   17:11-19

“Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well.”

Luke 17:19(NRSV)

            In Jesus’ time lepers had to live apart; they carried the infinite sadness of being excluded and despised. The text tells that Jesus met ten lepers who asked to be healed. Jesus commanded them to go and show themselves to the priests, as required by the Law, and on the way, they were healed. They were overjoyed, but only one returned to thank Christ. However, Jesus didn’t want to heal only their bodies, but also their spirits. The despised received a physical cure. The one who returned to Jesus also received his salvation.

            How often we fail to enjoy the marvels that God gives us, and how many times we limit ourselves by saying only that something good happened! We tell the world, but we can’t thank God for his love and healing.

            We have enjoyed many experiences of healing, of wholeness in our lives. God willing, we will always remember the example of this person considered a nobody in his time. So, let us not hesitate to stop in the middle of our path and give thanks to God for his goodness.

Prayer: Lord, may we always be ready to thank you for the blessings you give us in this life, and for those you will give us in the life to come. Amen.

SEAMOS PERSONAS AGRADECIDAS

LUCAS  17:11-19

Y le dijo: Levántate, vete, tu fe te ha salvado.

En la época de Jesús las personas leprosas tenían que vivir apartadas: vivían con la infinita tristeza de estar excluidos y despreciados. Nos narra el texto que Jesús se encontró con diez leprosos que le pidieron que los sanara. Jesús los mandó que fueran a presentarse a los sacerdotes, como establecía la ley, y en el camino quedaron sanos. Estaban felices, pero sólo uno volvió para dar gracias a Cristo. Pero Jesús no solo querría sanarles sus cuerpos, sino también su espíritu. Los desagradecidos recibieron una salud física. El que volvió a Jesús también recibió su salvación.

¡Cuántas veces no disfrutamos de las maravillas que Dios nos da, y cuántas veces nos limitamos a decir que bueno lo que nos pasó!   Lo contamos al mundo, pero no somos capaces de agradecerle a Dios por su amor, y su sanidad.

Son muchas las experiencias de sanidad, de vida integral que hemos disfrutado en nuestra vida, Dios permita que el ejemplo de esta persona que no era considerada nadie en su tiempo, podamos recordarlo siempre, y no dudemos en hacer una parada en medio de nuestro camino, y agradecer a Dios por su bondad.

Oración: Permite, Señor, que siempre estemos dispuestos a agradecer las bendiciones que tú nos das en esta vida y las que nos darás en la vida venidera. Amén.
