A RENEWAL EVERY DAY

2 CORINTHIANS 4:7-18

Though outwardly we are wasting away,

yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. (NIV)

2 Corinthians 4:16

There are a great number of people who don’t want to grow old, generally because they fear old age, as though this stage of life wasn’t worth living. And how thankful we should be to our God because he allows us to grow older! We should thank him for giving us a long life, above all when that life has been one of service and fidelity to him.

The elderly person who is in Christ has experienced the same sense we find in Paul: that is, the exterior man, the physical body, slowly wastes away, but interiorly is renewed every day. And it’s that those who trust in the Lord will be as trees planted beside the waters, so that in the year of drought they don’t wither or stop bearing fruit.  

Physical strengths could be limited, because now they lack the vitality of youth. But how much fruit can be brought forth through testimony, prayers, and the many experiences the Lord permits old age to bear. Thanks be to God because he has let many of us attain an advanced age; but above all, thanks for the abundant life that he gives us in Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father, today we especially ask for the elderly, above all for those who are alone. Accompany them and bless them. Amen.

UN RENUEVO CADA DIA

2DA DE CORINTIOS 4:7-18

“...aunque este nuestro hombre exterior se va desgastando, el interior… se renueva de día en día”

2da de Corintios 4:16

Hay un gran número de personas que no quieren envejecer, generalmente porque le temen a la vejez, como si esta etapa de la vida no valiera la pena vivirse. ¡Y qué agradecidos debemos estar a nuestro Dios porque nos permite envejecer! Debemos agradecerle por proporcionarnos una larga vida, sobre todo cuando esa vida ha sido de servicio y fidelidad a Él.

La persona ya anciana que tiene a Cristo, ha experimentado el mismo sentir que hubo en Pablo; el hombre exterior, es decir, el cuerpo físico, se va desgastando, pero interiormente se renueva cada día. Y es que los que confían en el Señor serán como árboles plantados junto a las aguas, que en el año de seguía, no se fatigarán, ni dejarán de dar frutos.

Las fuerzas físicas podrán estar limitadas porque ya no se tie-ne la vitalidad de la juventud. ¡Pero cuánto fruto se puede llevar mediante el testimonio, las oraciones y las muchas experiencias que el Señor permite llevar en la vejez! Gracias a Dios porque a muchos nos permite llegar a una edad avanzada, pero sobre todo gracias por la vida abundante que nos da en Jesucristo.

Oración: Padre, te pedimos hoy especialmente por los ancianos, sobre todo por aquellos que están solos. Acompáñalos y bendíceles. Amén.
