NECESSARY LIMITS
DEUTERONOMY 31:1-8
Moses said: I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I
am no longer able to lead you. The Lord
has said to me, “You shall not cross the Jordan.”
Deuteronomy 31:1-2 (NIV)
Moses felt old, tired, without strength. He accepted this reality and he accepted the words
of God that put limits on him. Joshua
would continue with the people in search of their objective: the promised land.
How much it costs us to recognize that we cannot do it
all! How much it costs to realize that the
human body is not the same as it once was as the years pass!
Often people of advanced age deny seeing themselves as
people who have been losing some strength and physical forces. Moses gives us a beautiful lesson about how
to recognize the limits to which we can go, reaching the limits that God gives
us. Knowing how to recognize this can be
more liberating from the power to do everything. To know how to accept our limits and to be
able to say: “I can up to this point, up to here the Lord has permitted me to
go,” can be very beautiful. We are not
gods, we are human beings, children of God the creator, to God we owe our
existence.
Prayer: Creator God, we ask you in this
day to give us the knowledge necessary to learn to recognize our limits. Don’t allow us to pass barriers that can harm
us. Help us to accept, in the same way
as Moses, that we can not do it all. Amen.

LÍMITES NECESARIOS
DEUTERONOMIO 31:1-8
Dijo Moisés: Yo tengo ciento veinte años, y ya no
tengo fuerzas para andar de un lado para el otro. Además, el Señor me ha dicho
que no cruzaré el Jordán.
Deuteronomio 31:1-2
Moisés se siente viejo,
cansado, sin fuerzas. Acepta esta realidad y acepta las palabras de Dios que le
ponen un límite. Josué seguirá con el pueblo en busca de su objetivo: la tierra
prometida.
¡Cuánto nos cuesta
reconocer que no podemos hacer todo! ¡Cuánto le cuesta reconocer al ser humano
que, según pasan los años, no somos los mismos de antes! Muchas veces las
personas de más edad se niegan a verse como personas que han ido perdiendo
algunas virtudes y las fuerzas físicas. Moisés nos da una hermosa lección sobre
saber reconocer hasta dónde uno puede ir, hasta dónde llegan las limitaciones
que Dios nos da. Saber reconocer esto puede ser más liberador que la libertad
de poder hacer de todo. Saber aceptar los límites y saber decir: “hasta aquí yo
puedo, hasta aquí el Señor me ha permitido” puede ser muy lindo. No somos
dioses, somos seres humanos, hijos del Dios creador, a Él debemos nuestra
existencia.
Oración: Dios creador, te pedimos en este día que nos des
la sabiduría necesaria para aprender a reconocer nuestros límites. No permitas
que pasemos barreras que puedan dañarnos y que aceptemos, al igual que Moisés,
que no podemos hacerlo todo. Amén.
