TO LEARN TO DISCERN
MARK 2:23-28
Test
everything. Hold on to the good.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NIV)
At times it is wise to remind people that food is not an end
in itself, but a way to maintain the body in good health. That money is for people, not the
reverse. Jesus had to deal with people’s
confusion with respect to the Sabbath. One
should not convert it into an idol and create false autonomy.
Technology is a powerful force today. It is a possession that easily can possess us
on its own, leaving us without freedom and dominated by a seductive stimulus
and the promise of control. People get
lost on the internet. Television can become
an addiction.
To live in the Spirit is to try to put the really important
things in the first place, clarifying means and ends, discerning how the
marvels of technology can be used to humanize our lives and draw us near to
God. We should not fear new
technologies, it is better that we become obligated to use them appropriately
in our mission as evangelizers. To not
know how to use this powerful medium brings to us the justified accusation of
negligence. If Paul were alive today,
would he not use television and would he not send his letters via internet?
Prayer: Lord, give me wisdom and power of discernment
in order to find that which is truly good.

APRENDER A DISCERNIR
MARCOS 2:23-28
Sométanlo todo a prueba y retengan lo bueno.
1 Tesalonicenses 5:21
A veces es conveniente
recordarle a la gente que la comida no es un fin en sí misma, sino una forma de
mantener el cuerpo en buena salud. Que el dinero es para la gente, no al revés.
Jesús tuvo que tratar con la confusión de la gente respecto al Sabbath. No debe
convertirse en un ídolo y ganar una falsa autonomía.
La tecnología es una
fuerza poderosa hoy en día. Es una posesión que fácilmente puede poseernos a su
vez, dejándonos sin libertad y dominados por su seductor estímulo y promesa de
control. La gente se pierde en Internet. La televisión puede convertirse en una
adicción.
Vivir en el Espíritu es
tratar de poner lo realmente importante en primer lugar, clarificar medios y
fines, discernir cómo las maravillas de la tecnología pueden ser utilizadas
para humanizar nuestra vida y acercarnos más a Dios. No debemos temer a las
nuevas tecnologías, más bien tenemos la obligación de usarlas apropiadamente en
nuestra misión de evangelizadores. No saber usar este medio poderoso trae sobre
nosotros la justificada acusación de negligencia. Si Pablo estuviera vivo hoy,
¿acaso no saldría en televisión y enviaría sus epístolas vía Internet?
Oración: Señor, dame sabiduría y poder de discernimiento para
encontrar lo que es realmente bueno. Amén.
